We were curious about the resort community of Hualalai (about 7 miles north of the airport) so we drove through the resort one day, just to explore the area. We had to get a pass at the guard house to have access through the Four...More

This is not one of the more well known beaches on the Big Island. Most people assume it is private, because you have to approach a guard shack. My sister lives on the Big Island and happened across this place by accident. Towards the end...More

There are (at least) two beach areas that can be accessed via Kukio Nui Drive. To access these beaches, one drives straight down Kukio Nui Drive to the guard station. In my case, the guard requested I make a U-turn around the guard station. After...More

We went to this beach on the morning of Thanksgiving with ages 2-65. As you turn into the park, you will have to stop at a station to get a parking pass. The parking is limited so go earlier. The beach is a short walk...More

Make this visit a must when traveling to the region: bring a chair and water: the view is incredible. Best to go in the morning or late afternoon
