Tucked in the mountains , this old monastery is a great place to visit. It has very interesting history as well as a lot of carvings and old painted walls with icons and biblical scenes ( in the church) Definitely worth visiting

The Monastery itself is nothing special. It's very quiet and well located in between the sand pyramids landscape. You reach it by following the road (by foot or car) or take the hiking trail. A little hard to find but just follow the river bedding...More

Here, lightness and freshness are felt, as if something is getting easier and you feel relaxed and joyful. At the same time, you feel the deep and still un-revealed history of the human spirit and soul. An ancient mystery is felt in the air .

I loved the place. There were hardly any people and it truly felt like a place where God lived unlike most of the commercialized monasteries tourists visit. The nature around is truly amazing.

Melnik is full of them. I have personally tried Bolyarka and Pri Shestaka (but it was several years ago) and Chavkovata kashta (the beginning of March 2017) and was pleased with all of them. They all had their own wine, too... More
