We saw Yaxha as part of an overnight tour to Tikal from Belize. While we enjoyed it and learned a great deal, having to stay overnight in Tikal was a bit rough for us (no A/C) so I'm not sure we'd do it again. But...More

Decided to visit Yaxhá on the way to La Lancha. I arranged for a guide who really made the trip. If you are in need of a guide and happen to be staying at the La Lancha ask for Jesus Antonio Madrid Montenegro. The site...More

After spending the previous day in Tikal, Yaxha was a welcomed change. We booked a day trip from Tikal with Marlon Diaz of Gem Tours (you can google his website, he speaks fluent English and is incredible) and were stunned at how different it is...More

Yaxhá is located close to Tikal, but nevertheless much more complicated to reach. From Flores it is a 2 hours trip by car and it is recommended having a SUV in particular for the last 20km and during bad weather conditions. The site itself is...More

Pretty hard to reach for the last 11 km due the very bad roads conditions. Amazing site without any other tourists. Fantastic view from the top of some pyramids!

Yaxha although not as popular as tikal has the best sunsets! During the summer months regular car travel is fine but a higher or 4x4 would be better. Park is beautiful with guided tours available but if you choose to do your own there are...More

Go early and you pretty much have the site to yourself. There are some well preserved structures and you can climb a lot of them. There are a few good looks outs over the site and the lake. Beautiful and peaceful.

The Yaxha tour was great! It offers lots of Mayan history, fewer visitors than Tikal, and lots of opportunities to see various types of animals. We saw over twenty howler monkeys and various species of birds and plants. It was very fun. There is a...More

I would ask this on the Trip Advisor Forum for Guatemala - there's a poster named Sonia who might be able to help with specifics. You can catch a bus from the border to the access road for Yaxhá, but buses heading from there... More
