The area
Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

    GIVE ME MORE RYE!
We attended the Sazerac cocktail tasting demonstration in June, 2023. Our bartender/host Andrew was excellent. He demonstrated in detail how to make the traditional Sazerac cocktail and along the way delighted the group with the history of 'spirits' in New Orleans. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this demonstration along with the complimentary self guided tour to visitors and locals alike.

Great place, great people. Amazing tour
During our check in for the pub crawl tour, met a gentleman named Wayman. He was telling my husband and I and my sister in law. About Sazerac House. Never knew New Orelans had this. So the next day we were there. This place is incredible, also never knew how much Sazerac has influenced New Orleans. If any one is looking for something to do. This place is a must. Be on the look out for Wayman is also working there, he never mentioned that to us. But when we saw him. That made our tour so much more, his energy, such a great and amazing person... if he wasn't for him, he would have never known. Thank you. Wayman. Hope I am spelling it correctly lol We left with some goodies! 😉

Great free option in New Orleans!
Great FREE option in the heart of New Orleans! They do free tours that include tastings for guests over 21. You learn history of the city, the bitters, the drinks and learn how to make them, and getting samples along the way! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable! We made a reservation through their site, but ended up going early to get inside during a storm. They were able to get us in early with no problems. The self guided tour took us a little of an hour, and was a great way to take a break from being outside all day! Highly recommend!

    Highly recommend this awesome tour
this was an amazing experience. to learn the history of the Sazerac and the families behind it was an enlightening time. The free tasting was a learning experience also, as I had never tried any of those drinks. The video presentations were spectacular. The best part was that it was a free tour during the hottest part of the day.

    Fun for the entire family
The Sazerac House exceeded my expectations. You would think because it serves alcoholic beverages and that it has a distillery its for adults only but nope. They include the children as well by giving them stickers and lemonade shots when the adults are having their own shots of different cocktails. Plus side is you're in an air conditioned environment and you're learning about the Sazerac. I'll be back again on my next visit and bringing friends with me.

A Great Place to Tour When in New Orleans.
I decided to take a tour. I am glad that I did. The self-guided tour is very informative. The people explaining the products and samples are very knowledgeable and will even offer advice for questions about the city. Prices for souvenirs and product are reasonable. I will definitely tour again when back in New Orleans.

Absolutely worth doing, especially since it is free!
Exhibits are informative, interesting, and quite polished. Loved the sample stations and the interactive virtual bartender. Was very pleasantly surprised just how well done this place is, especially since the entry is free! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans.

    Beautiful Building
Definitely nice for a free tour - just a little boring for the kids. They gave them fruit punch instead of mixed drinks at each station. Easy way to fill an open hour and taste a few drinks.

    Definitely worth a visit!
Fantastic museum and definitely worth a visit! It is a brand new really high tech well-done museum covering the history of Sazerac with tastings. All of the employees were very enthusiastic and the layout of the museum flies really well so it doesn’t feel crowded at all.

Amazing and free tour. I'm telling you the first thing I thought about was how we paid over $100 for less of an experience at the Angels Envy distillery tour in Louisville, Kentucky. The exhibits are well done and informative, the videos interesting. I loved it! The tour will take at least an hour.

Very old distillery between the French Quarter and the mighty Mississippi. Give great (and free) self-guided tours that are very educational and give our free samples as you go. The staff are very educational about the distilling process and are eager to answer any questions that you may have, Nice gift shop and liquor store at the end of the tour. Can get busy so schedule a tour online in advance.

We stumbled on this our first day as we were heading to lunch in the French Quarter but had some time to kill and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. Their free self guided tour was a great way to learn about the history of some classic New Orleans cocktails. We received delicious samples along the way and the staff giving them out were all super friendly and knowledgeable. Next time we go back we plan to do one of the more extensive tours.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional whiskey tour we attended on May 16th. Accompanied by Andrew, our knowledgeable guide, the experience proved to be nothing short of amazing.

As someone who is not particularly well-versed in the world of whiskey, I must admit that I approached the tour with a degree of skepticism. On the other hand, my husband, a dedicated whiskey and bourbon enthusiast, was eagerly anticipating the evening's activities. To my surprise, and delight, the tour far surpassed my expectations.

The tour was not only informative but also incredibly engaging. Andrew's blend of humor and expertise made for an entertaining and educational experience. His passion for whiskey was truly infectious, and even my husband, who can be quite the connoisseur, was thoroughly impressed.

Moreover, the tour was not only about the whiskey; it was about the stories and the people behind each sip. The anecdotes shared were not only amusing but also heartwarming, adding a personal touch to the entire experience.

Given the enjoyable evening we had, we are already considering attending the cocktail tour as our next adventure. We are eager to explore more of what New Orleans has to offer in terms of spirits and the fascinating history behind them.

Once again, I would like to extend my gratitude for a truly memorable experience. The professionalism and warmth of the staff, coupled with the high-quality content of the tour, have left a lasting impression on us.

Thank you once again for providing such a wonderful opportunity to delve into the world of whiskey and spirits.

This was one of the best tours my husband and I have experienced. The museum is very well put together and we stayed engaged throughout. We smelled spices, interacted with virtual bartenders, learned a lot of history, and of course drank some cocktails. I had looked forward to this since our last trip, and it did not disappoint.

Really impressed with everything we have seen and done at the Sazerac House!

We had a Tropical Cocktail course with the wonderful Didra. She was absolutely amazing and the time we spent with her went so quickly yet we learnt so much! We highly recommend this class if you can take it.

After the class we went to visit the museum and it was fascinating to see the French and American links around the Sazerac history and drink. This was really interesting and fascinating.

We would highly recommend a visit there. And would go away if we visit NOLA again!
