Forget Coney Island! Brighton Beach is the place to go. It’s a little gem of a beach that makes you feel like you’re in a small RUSSIAN beach town. Go for the people watching (and listening). :)

Start at Coney Island and walk your way down, passed the Aquarium, to Brighton. Some of the BEST Russian food you'll taste!

We have been going here for 2 years now and can’t recommend it enough! The Boardwalk is has great restaurants leading up to the beach. The beach itself is amazing clean. Highly recommend to stop by and enjoy the sun!

The Parks Department recently laid down mats to allow wheelchairs to get close to the ocean waves. Half a dozen Russian restaurants with shaded outdoor seating, west of coney island avenue.

We traveled to NYC in the summer and it was great to take the subway from Manhattan to Brighton beach (almost one hour ride). The beach was not too crowded and it was relatively clean. We also enjoyed some Russian food in the neighborhood. A...More

Whatever the time of year I’m sure Brighton Beach will have a charm of it’s own. This trip was in March, the previous one June. I think I preferred March where it was almost deserted and it felt like we had the whole boardwalk and...More

if you want to avoid the noise and buzz of Connie Island a little further down the beach, this is the place to be in the summer. Great board walk, authentic Russian restaurants, easy to get to by Subway. Wonderful clean beach.

This is called little Odessa. The boardwalk is great! Walkers, bikers, swimmers, it's all there. Great cafes to stop and grab a bite. Treat yourself after to Sahara's Turkish Place on Coney Island Ave.. The best Turkish food ever!!!

Brighton Beach is vast and covers a large area followed by Coney Island Beach. It was very clean and there are changing booths on the beach. Definitely worth a visit for a day out to get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC.

Away as far from Coney Island side. Go to the other side - the beginning of Brighton side, always much calmer and not too many people. Facilities to change and bathroom are nearby. Enjoy your sunbathing!

Katya -- while you will be able to walk on the boardwalk a lot of the places on the boardwalk will not be open. I went June 15 (ish) and we made a point to go during the day as the stores were not open that early in the... More
