I have been to Avondale twice to eat at two different and excellent restaurants. I would love to return for a two hour walk around the interesting shops. Parking can be trying.

Adjacent to the St. Johns River, the Riverside historic district is quite extensive with older homes, human scale retail, several parks and a walkable street environment. Definitely worth a visit.

There are Bed and Breakfast home on Riverdale ave, near the famous FIVE POINTS, there are lots of different restaurants, my fav is Derby, and lots of unique stores. As a hotel/motel your nearest stay will be downtown.
