Did a walking history brew tour and had a GREAT time. Our guide Dave was really knowledgeable, energetic and funny. Absolutely loved his beer selection, and tried some good things I probably wouldn't have on my own. I DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone looking for a fun experience, as well as to gain some knowledge of both beer making and history!

Our tour guide Allie was amazing from start to finish. Not only did she share her knowledge of the breweries and neighborhood, but she took our beer tastes into consideration and made thoughtful suggestions. It was a pleasure to be around Allie and you will be in great hands on any tour led by her.

I was lucky to experience another great brew tour offered by Chad! I have done Boston, DC and now closer to home the Philly Brew tour. Gil was our guide who is a local and home brewer himself so he knew he stuff and was very informative. He kept things moving at a great pace and made for a very upbeat and fun evening. Dock Street was the 1st stop and a great one for learning the history of the brewery and the tasting of several great beers (staff here is great also!). Then across the river to Cooper River Distillery in NJ which had a nice sample of rums and was a nice additional to the tour. Back to Philly to 2nd Story Brewing which provided a very large amount of food that was paired nicely with the beers we sampled. Last stop was at the Brauhaus which did a very nice job of explaining the "special" beers we were sampling. This is a must do when in Philly - you will have a blast and plenty of beer! Great job Gil!

My boyfriend and I stayed overnight at the Hotel Palomar in Philly just for this tour. I got an awesome deal for the brew bus on Groupon and through Ebates. I have to first let you know that the bus meets out front of a building. There is no actual place to go into other than the bus. Not a big deal just don't expect to be looking for a building, just a van/bus. Gill was our "Brew Bud" and he was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable of the city and was able to detour around huge mounds of snow to get us to our destinations in a safe and timely manner. Gill actually gives the tours at each brewery, tells you about the different beers and gives you the history of Philly's brew scene. Each brewery was unique and definitely had their own flare. Our favorites were 2nd Story and Dock Street. We ate dinner family style at 2nd Story and the food was delicious!!!! We are actually planning another trip to Philly just to go back there for dinner. If you take this tour, don't forget to tip your Brew Bud. They work very hard to get you around the city and they are the ones who make the experience an awesome one! We had a great time with Gill and the other people on the bus. We are looking forward to another city brew tour soon.

Well, I was a Philly Brew Tour guinea pig, and I would never have known it was their first run.

I was lucky enough to attend the original Burlington Brew Tour in Vermont with a friend, and I had an absolute blast. Needless to say, I had high expectations for my home city. I'm happy to say I was not disappointed!!

Our tour guides were hilarious and knowledgeable, providing entertainment along with local history to break up the van rides between breweries. We visited Flying Fish (open space, great beer flight, just awesome--will be back!) and Lunacy (smaller, with unique flavors) before stopping at 2nd Story Brewing Company for lunch. Each tour member received a beer flight and sampler plate of 2nd Story's most popular menu items, including warm pretzel bites, buffalo wings, bacon grilled cheese, fries and a fabulous arugula, bleu cheese, & prosciutto salad. If you're not a fan of fried food, you may want to indicate this when signing up. I, however, thought it was the perfect array of snacks during a day of drinking. After lunch we headed to Dock Street Brewing (not my favorite; most of their beers tasted like sours to me but many tour members seemed to like that).

The tour ended around 4, but since it was such a nice day my companions and I decided to stop by Spruce Street Harbor. For those who have never been, it's an urban garden of sorts with hammocks, lights, giant games, beer, and food trucks. It was the perfect ending to our day.

For those wondering exactly how much beer you actually get to taste, the answer is a lot. This is coming from a 108 pound female, but I can assure you that everyone on the tour was more than satisfied. After each brewery's tour & tasting, we were also given the opportunity to purchase another beer of our choice. I felt like our guides did a good job with planning the itinerary, and I never felt rushed.

I honestly don't even have any constructive criticism to offer.

Call some friends, book a tour, and head to Spruce Street afterwards, because if you've been drinking since 11:30am, why stop at 4 in the afternoon?

Are you a beer snob? Micro-brew enthusiast? Or do you just drink Bud Light Lime?
Either way, it doesn't matter as this tour is worth it!
The venues they bring you to have great stories to tell and great beer. The guides are very knowledgeable and extremely accommodating.
Philly has a great beer scene that this tour knows how to take advantage of for its patrons.

After having gone on the Boston Brew Tour and the Washington DC Brew Tour, my husband, brother-in-law and I knew we couldn't miss out on the Inaugural Evening Philly Brew Tour. It certainly didn't disappoint as we went to Flying Fish Brewery, Lunacy Brewery (both just over the bridge in NJ) and then on to 2nd Story Brewing Company and Brauhaus Schmitz (both in Center City Philly). I hadn't been to any of these spots before so it was nice to check out some new places and be able to see the difference between more established breweries and ones that are just starting out. I especially enjoyed the beer and food pairing for the meal at 2nd Story - it was nice to have a small sampling of each item like gourmet grilled cheese, wings, salad, and of course Philly pretzels with a recommendation for each beer to try them with. (Sidenote - if you are the type of person who gets hungry while drinking, you may want to bring a snack for the van. The food pairing was our third stop for the evening and we were all pretty hungry by the time we got there!) My favorite location for the tasting was from Brauhaus Schmitz because we were able to order one of the menu and it was the first time I'd gotten a wheat beer (my favorite!) all evening.

Overall a really cool experience and night out! Not to mention that the guides (Chad and Gill) were both super knowledgeable about the beers and the history related to them and drove us all around as we continued to drink more beers throughout the evening. I'd definitely recommend this for groups of friends, couples, singles, or really anyone over 21! Welcome to Philly, Philly Brew Tours!
