A neat place to find a variety of food
Just visiting the market can be a little overwhelming at first. I was glad for all of the variety. We tried different things, like a pork sandwich from DiNics, salmon curry from Little Thai Market, milkshake from Bassett's and a random smoothie from somewhere. The next morning we tried Beiler's for doughnuts and coffee. In my opinion, some food was overhyped (DiNic's), so it may be best to wander around and see what interests you without reading a ton of reviews first (which I am guilty of). There are too many options to try in one day, so I think it's a great place to visit to find something to satisfy everyone in the group.

    Want food? They got it!
Word of advice: If you go and there is an event at the Philadelphia Convention Center next door, DON'T. You will not like the experience. The first time I entered this place was a midday lunch on a Sunday which also happened to be the first day of an event. It was wall to wall people and it was a challenge to get anywhere, let alone order anything. Put it this way, I'm not sure if it was a fire hazard but it sure seemed like it. We went the following morning as well as the late afternoon a couple of days later and the atmosphere was a bit more manageable. It was a heck of a lot more pleasant then. The food choices and cuisine were amazing. Want some noodles? Its there. Want some Louisiana gator? Chomp away. Feel like a kebabs and gyros? All that greasy goodness is around. Heck if you want a sugar rush you can get cookies and ice cream from some really good spots. If youre lucky enough to grab a table and chair to eat then great, if not, your best bet is to just take it back to the convention center or your hotel room if you're lucky enough to get one nearby. It wont get any awards for a gourmet experience but there is something to offer for everyone.

    Local Market on Steroids
This is a huge market that has fresh meats, produce, and foods along with restaurants, bakeries, specialty foods, and a few gift shops. It's a lot of fun to walk through and see it all. Go hungry because there are so many options, and it all looks really good.

    So many choices
So many great choices, great variety. It closes early, by 5 many places closed, but I understand market really slows. Limited places to sit. I got to go and went back to hotel. If new to place, explore before ordering.

    Food lovers paradise
A Philadelphia landmark and a must do on any visit to the Center City area. It’s a large and bustling indoor market with a large variety of vendors selling every food, snack and dessert you could want. Even if not there to eat, it’s a fun place to stroll and take in the sights and smells. We sampled food from several different places and enjoyed it all. Kismet Bialys was especially good.

    Still humming along strong!
This is seriously one of the funnest places to go to in Philly. The sheer amount of vendors and over the counter food places is overwhelming. The market bustles during breakfast and lunch but activity dies down in the late afternoon. I like Herschel’s East Side for their pastrami and corn beef sandwiches. Also the fruit stand near the back is very nice. Was dead set on getting an Amish breakfast at Dutch Eating Place on Sunday but forgot they were closed - darn!

    So much variety.
So much variety. I so wished I had the ability cook while there, so many fresh meats, veg, fruit and seafood. I had breakfast 3 times and dinner one night. I bought some chocolates and salami to bring home. Cheesecake with cherries from Beilers, coffee from Old City and ice cream. Only wish I could have figured out how to bring home some pastries. Not too busy in morning, most places closed around 5pm so go early if you want to pick up something for supper.

Food, desserts, fresh meat, awesome food market
Something for everyone. Lots of vendors, a very neat experience. Whether you want to eat lunch, breakfast, a snack or gift, they have it all. There’s seating to eat and everyone can get what they want. Everything we tested was great.

Too Many wonderful choices. My FOMO is not happy.
This is an amazing place. Unless you have FOMO. My husband and I walked in the where welcomed buy amazing smells of all the vendors. Sweet smells were mixed with salty, savory and spicy. As my husband and I walked through trying to find a place to eat I knew the decision would be very difficult since everything looked good. We ended up eating at Molly Mallory’s sit down restaurant. We are in Philadelphia for a couple more days, but might have to stop here again. My only regret is I won’t be able to experience all the vendors here.

We love markets and so this was a must visit for us while in Philadelphia n it didn’t disappoint
The market is a mixture of food for sale from fish to veg to flowers and food retailers. There is a vast choice of food to eat. We toured the whole market first before making our choice which was the Filipino stall in the back left corner. We wanted to try something different and this was certainly new to us. I have to say the beef wasn’t particularly tender, a little chewy which was disappointing but my husband had the pork which was fine. After eating we walked back to the excellent cake stall where there was such an array to chose from we left with more than we probably should have 🤣 but wow were they scrummy!

Old train station loaded with many different types of foods, from ice cream to Georgian food (the country, not the state).

This turned into a highlight of my trip to Philadelphia! I expected it would be cool, but it turned out to be so much more than I expected. Leave yourself plenty of time to explore all the vendors and room in your stomach to eat some amazing food! Trust me, do not miss this like I almost did.

This place was overwhelming. We ate lunch here on the first day and wasn't happy with our choice. It was hard to find a table but we finally got one. We ate about half our sandwiches and through the rest away. Then we tried Bassett's Ice Cream which was good. Much better than our sandwiches.

It's a fun place to look around. I really wanted to come back again but we didn't get the chance.

Reading Terminal is definitely a great experience while in Philly. There’s lots of foods, nationalities, desserts and seafood & meats by the pound. Didn’t like the smell of fresh fish but it was bearable. Great desserts cookies n cakes were my joys there. Wish they open a little longer. They close at 6pm .

I love this place. There is such a wide variety of cuisines and food from which to choose. Some of my favorites are Sweet Ninas, 4th Street Cookies, Pearl's Oyster Bar, and Little Thai Market. The prices are reasonable. Note that most restaurants do not have seating. However, there are a few seating areas dispersed throughout Reading Terminal Market. Expect lines at 4th Street Cookies and Little Thai Market.

There are many more restaurants for me to try out.

You can also buy fresh meat and seafood.

The energy and smells within the market are delightful.

Incredible assortment of eateries from all over. Bakeries, ice cream and food from all over. Had the Oyster breakfast and it was delicious. Going back for some BBQ wings tonight before the Phillies game. If you visit Philly, this place is a Must!!!!

On a recent US History Tour, we went to the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia for our lunch. It is in the old Reading rail terminal, which is no longer used for the commuter trains. We found it kind of chaotic, and high energy, a little overwhelming for me. It was packed with an eclectic collection of shops and stalls and eateries. We don’t do a lot of shopping when we travel, but there was everything available you could imagine. It reminded me of Pike Place Market in Seattle, but in a block shape instead of being linear like the Seattle market. Our tour guide had told us when we entered the terminal that it “wasn’t really very busy today”, yet sure seemed like a bustling crowd to me. We went to the Down Home Diner for our lunch.

You haven't really visited Philadelphia unless you have visited the Reading Terminal Market. So many kiosks with delicious food to choose from. Miller's pretzels is a must stop. We also enjoyed Original Turkey though I don't think you could go wrong no matter what you choose.

With so many different options there is something here for everyone. An amazing mashup of both tourists and locals hanging out in the same place. You'd need so many return trips to experience everything, I'm very jealous that Philadelphia has such an amazing spot for dining and groceries.

It is always a highlight stopping at Reading Terminal Market. The Hunger Burger is one of my favorite places to get food. The Flying Monkey is my favorite place for dessert. If you are not expecting a crowd, think again. It is almost always packed, and finding a table is a challenge. But that is all part of the adventure of eating at Reading Terminal Market.
