    Beware of potential overcharging
    We booked a ride for my elderly mother in law. We paid in advance. When she was dropped off the driver tried to get her to pay for the trip again. When we called the office to straighten it out he tried to charge $22 for tolls. There are no tolls on that route. Not nice. Beware.

    Private transfer to Manhattan
    Ride and driver were good. Waited about 10 minutes for pick up at JFK, but a lot of traffic. Had a contact number for driver and he assured me he was close. Drive was fine. Driver did not speak until the end when I had to pay tip and tolls. Overall, got us to our hotel safe. Was more than I wanted to spend, but would use again.

    Lyft or Uber would have been better
    I wish I didn't have to give a 1 star but after 2 attempts to speak with a manager they have left me no choice! I booked their services for a round trip airport transfer from my hotel for a treat to kick off our vacation. The ride to the airport was by far, one of the worst experiences I have ever had for a car service. They farmed out the service to a taxi company who showed up in his personal Toyota Camry with his items in the back seat pockets. The car was dirty from the ceiling to the floor. The driver was nice enough but did have an odor that I could not overlook or get out of my clothing. This was not anything I would have presented for a car service that was booked as a sedan (1-3 with bags). I am grateful we only had 1 piece of luggage and we fit in the back seat! I am VERY disappointed and even more so that no one has gotten back to me after 2 calls to the company. Their only saving grace and what is giving them a 2 of 5 was the return trip was done well- the driver was professional and presentable in a clean car. I travel often and our company uses car services all the time- I can't recommend this company with the product and service given based on the experience.

    Hit or miss. If I'm in NYC again, NO
    First driver ((cruise port to condo) got pulled over, (didn't realize until we told her) got a ticket, then got out to ask questions. We walked to our condo. Received a follow up call, explained the situation, was told to expect a call from GM, 2 weeks later nothing. Agreed to keep 2nd pre-paid transfer from condo to airport (as long as not oringal driver), it was excellent.

I don’t understand why I got an email saying this wasn’t original content, as it’s my own experience. Maybe because my brother shared one as well, but we were together, so maybe that’s it. Anyway, here it is again, edited so it’s a new version, as I want to make sure nobody uses this awful company.

Our airport nightmare began the moment we met our driver. A curt hello was drowned out by a barrage about tolls and tips, demanded with a sneer rather than a request. We'd seen the email, tipping was expected, but shouldn't that be based on service, not pre-emptive strong-arming?

The silence during the ride screamed louder than any words. The driver, a maestro of the middle finger salute and virtuoso of road rage, seemed on the verge of a meltdown. As we neared our destination (not quite there yet!), the demands for payment returned. Cards? Cash? Anything! We were happy to pay, language barrier be damned.

But upon revealing his payment screen, his first act was the digital equivalent of a shake-down: tip selection. We demurred, his hostility the very opposite of a welcoming gesture. All hell broke loose.

He morphed into a shouter, threatening to return us to the airport, a fate we desperately tried to avoid. We were more than willing to pay the toll, for crying out loud! But logic was lost on this runaway rage machine. We were stuck in a car with a human hurricane, his voice rising with every passing mile.

"Shut up!" he roared, dreams of customer service a distant memory. The police? He scoffed. Finally, desperate, we surrendered, offering both toll and tip. Anything to escape. Was he under the effect of drugs and/ or alcohol? Quite possibly, but communication was a blackout.

Six dollars and ninety-four cents for the toll, a pittance compared to the emotional toll. The tip? The minimum on the screen, a desperate bribe for freedom. We were shellshocked. What twisted logic made him think returning us would benefit him? A double toll, zero tip - that was his endgame?

Disgusting. Unforgivable. On what twisted planet is customer service hijacked by a deranged yeller who holds you hostage for a measly tip? It defies explanation.

Expedia is getting an earful. This partnership needs to dissolve. The world deserves to know. Friends, family, social media, even the press – we'll spread the word so no one else endures this nightmare.

How dare they put such a clearly unstable individual behind the wheel, a danger to himself, us, and everyone on the road? A refund is the least they can do. Keep the toll fee, just let us walk away with our sanity (and maybe a few extra bucks for future therapy).

Paid a lot of money for this service and when we arrived at Boston Aiport we repeated called the number given only for it to ring and ring. Eventually gave up and got a taxi. Same thing happened on return to airport. Expedia complained on our behalf but Carmel refused to refund our money. Terrible service avoid at all costs

Best option when you need a ride into Chicago. It worked better than booking Uber or Lyft.
Great driver and very professional.
Our cost was cheaper than the others.
Plus a limo!

Worst experience I’ve ever had in private transport! Simple summary:
- Picked up in Toyota Avalon (not typical level car for private transport)
- Car was filthy and smelled very bad
- Stuck in it for over two hours (traffic to CT)
- called to try and speak with manager to ensure return trip wasn’t same and got berated by dispatch lady. Unbelievably rude and not empathetic to sh*tty experience.
- tried emailing CEO who never bothered to reply
-cancelled return trip and just took Uber premier (+/- $50) and picked up in a new Cadillac

NEVER AGAIN will we use Carmel. You’ve been warned

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will legitimately harass you for tips, they'll drive erratically, and they barely speak any English. Use Uber, Lyft, or another taxi company. Calling customer service will route you to people in the Philippines! You've been warned!

This service has diminished greatly. Disorganized and there is no support whatsoever. They provided the wrong car on the transfer to the hotel and on the transfer back the driver fell asleep at the wheel. I tried to contact them to no avail. Avoid this one.

Easy pick up from JFK to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal-JFK crazy as usual - had to really hunt for our driver but just a short wait- he drove a bit aggressively (I am a New Yorker too) but got us there safely. Return trip was fine -driver much better - all in all definitely would use again

A somewhat disappointing first time experience with Carmel. We pre-booked a late morning sedan transfer from Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan.

We were assigned a car five minutes before the booked time. We expected a sedan limousine as booked. but we got an Uber Toyota Rav 4? This was after prepaying the ride to a credit card.

After two phone calls to the driver over 35 minutes the car finally arrived. The app showed him going around in circles in an adjacent suburb for that time. The excuse was bad traffic and no experience in using the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

In the end the driver was actually OK and the ride was fine, albeit a delayed and slow ride in traffic. But if we'd have wanted an Uber we'd have used Uber not what we thought was a limo company. I guess the lesson learnt is read the small print and read the recent reviews.

Can you imagine how two elderly travels were looking forward to a professional limo pickup after a 15 hour travelling day?

Can you imagine how FRUSTRATED we felt arriving at Memphis airport without any instructions on how to find the limo driver?

Can you imagine how ANNOYED we were when we called your offices at 21:27 and listen to a recording for 2 minutes and 1 second before you cut us off.

Can you imagine how our ANGER grew after we called again at 21:33 only to be cut off after 14 seconds this time.

So with NO INSTRUCTIONS from you and no way to get in touch we proceeded to baggage reclaim expecting to see our driver with a welcome to Memphis placard.

But no driver. 

Can you imagine how ANNOYED, FRUSTRATED, LOST and a little NERVOUS we felt. 

Can you imagine how relieved we were to find a line of taxis and a friendly driver to take us downtown. 

Can you imagine how we now feel to be refused a refund when it's your systems that have LET US DOWN. We were there on time, we wanted to travel with you. But couldn't because you didn't explain how to.
