Neighborhood: Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.

Nice promenade in the city jungles
It’s nice walk from the Vessel to Greenwich village. Cozy route with flowers and trees and good views on NY streets. There are cafes with drinks and snacks, ice cream on the route. Restrooms are located here as well.

    An urban Oasis
We love this park in NYC, it's got a great combination of that urban grit of the city with an oasis like feel. I love how they have kept the industrial feel and history of the track whilst creating a space to escape the city from. The views from the trails are great too.

    A garden you can walk
I love this trail because it offers a different perspective on surrounding architecture, but even more because the plants are always beautiful and interesting. I'm always learning, here. Also, the shade is refreshing. It does get crowded sometimes, and people seem to forget which side of the path to walk on.

Nice greenspace in the heart of the city
Busy with lots of folks but it is a slice of green in a mountain of concrete. Free, bring water and wear a hat.sunscreen on a hot day. Next time I will look at see if there are tours along the trail because there is so much history and architecture that is unique.

    Favorite NYC Experience
Love this! One of my favorite parts of our NYC trip! So surreal to be walking this beautiful trail in the city. So many photo moments along the way with murals. We went from Hudson Yards to Chelsea Market.

It's always a great experience to walk the High Line in Manhattan during nice weather.
It's always a great experience to walk the High Line in Manhattan during nice weather. We walked from Hudson Yard to Chelsea Market. Besides being a nice walk on a summer's day, the Skyline is free.

A Different Perspective of New York
Though it was a hot and humid day, we walked the entire park and enjoyed another perspective of New York. Very clean and safe. Many restaurant choices around area we finished on the sourhern end. We liked that there were sections of the old railroad tracks they left intact. And mature landscaping and benches provided welcome shade. Thanks to all who maintain this park.

A must visit when in New York!
Thoroughly enjoyed discovering this beautiful place of calm and tranquility. A welcome break from the busy city environment. Cool outdoor bar with a beautiful view of the river. Lots of food stalls with interesting food. Places to sit and take in the atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Bonus is that it’s free!!

Must See/ Do In NYC - Up There With Any NYC Tourist Attraction
Loved this... although a relatively new attraction this has become a must to do in NYC. A really great innovative conversion of a raised train track through midtown NYC which affords a lovely walk through the area without stopping every block and with beautifully maintained vegetation and plenty of places to stop and sit and take in a view New York. Walked from the Hudson's Yard/ The Vessel down to Chelsea Markets ... best way to do that I reckon. There were plenty of people walking but never felt busy/ overcrowded. A great free attraction - high recommend

    Loved it
The high line. I was very surprised at how nice the High Line was. We started at the end with the Shed. It was cool to see the Red tree at the beginning of it. There were a large variety of plants and lots of tree along the way. A lot greener than what I expected. It was a lovely walk. There are lots of places to stop and sit if you so desire. We exited out at Chelsea market and had fun exploring there.

This is a must see in NYC for me. This is an oasis in the busy city and gives a wonderful respite. We walked the whole length but there are plenty of places to get off and on.

We spent Tuesday morning walking along the high line, starting around 9.00. We took some photos of the Vessel (closed) then walked to the end. We took our time and it took about 45 mins to an hour. We then looked around the Little Island, Chelsea Market had a coffee and walked back, before getting lunch. The walk back was a lot busier on the way back. A great walk. Take your time.

My husband and I were at nearby Chelsea Market and decided to walk along the High Line - we did it at dusk which was lovely - we only managed a section but enjoyed the walk. Check the website for reports on which lifts are open/closed although we walked up some stairs to the High Line with no problem.

What a wonderful repurposing of redundant overhead rail stock
We did the total length in two visits - midway to south the first time, midway to north the second.
Such a variety of different planting, and all looks so very healthy
Love the way the trackway and seating is so well integrated, the way that the rail track is still there, the variety of views along the way, the standard of maintenance
Am absolute oasis within the skyscrapers

What a great use for a derelict railway line. Some of the art along the route is a bit odd but keeps the walk interesting. I walked from Hudson Yard to Chelsea market which was really nice. Maybe not enough shaded areas for me as the Sun was quite intense that day but the whole walk felt peaceful which is always great to have in the middle of a city.

Spent a couple of hours here walking The High Line and people watching while my wife was in a business meeting. This place is amazing! I am fascinated by trains and this is an old train line. I love that they left some train paraphernalia and added lots of green space. A plethora of seating available as well. What a great concept. I hope other cities follow the lead and redevelop spaces like this. Highly recommended!

Fantastic place to walk! It’s a perfect way to get away from the typical big city and high traffic vibes. I love how the city turned this discontinued train tracks into this amazing walkable park. We’ve been here several times. The first time, we started at the Hudson Yard train station and ended at the vessel. The other time, we started at Chelsea Market area and walked all the way to the Vessel. Highly recommend! There is more to see and do inside the shopping mall at the Hudson Yard area. There is a train line to take you to or from the city.

Our hotel was located a few blocks from the center of the High Line, so we walked south one day and north another day. We walked the entire trail and loved every bit of it. The plantings are magnificent and some of the art work spectacular. We also enjoyed seeing the adjoining buildings up close. Someone really had great vision when they transformed this rail line into a wonderful pedestrian space.
