The rating is for the theatre and not for the musical. ("Beautiful" was OK -- appreciated it for the story that it told and how well it was presented.) Stephen Sondheim Theatre is a more modern venue than other Broadway theatres that I have been to, and what I particularly enjoyed was the spacious rows with plenty of leg room.... More

Saw “Beautiful” in this smallish theater off Broadway. We had seats in the 12th row Orchestra (1st floor) and thought they were perfect. Could see and hear everything. Was a little unusual in that you enter the theater on the mezzanine level (3rd floor) and go down two levels to the orchestra seats. There’s not much leg room and the... More

Our experience of this cute little theatre was good. We called in on the day we wanted tickets. The staff in the box office were patient and polite and soon we had purchased two of the only four tickets available in the orchestra so we were delighted. The show itself was outstanding. The sets were simple but brilliant and the... More

We recently watched Beautiful here and our seats were located in the Left Side Orchestra section, Row A. The play was amazing but our seats made it very difficult to see the left side of the stage and there were a few scenes that had actors positioned there. Our view of the right side of the stage was also blocked... More

The performers and performance were outstanding. Absolutely loved every moment of it. That being said I highly recommend but beware the seats are not as comfortable as previous reviewers have stated. Yes, there was leg room but if you have a sizable bottom or are weight challenged, the seats are somewhat of a torture device. I felt squeezed in and... More

Stephen Sondheim Theater is a beautiful multi-leveled venue for Broadway shows. It seems that all seats, which are somewhat roomier than many Broadway theaters are closer to the stage for some reason. Modern decor, elevator service, bar area are all plusses. If there is any complaint here it's the lack of suffient restroom facilities which are quite limited making for... More

Saw the show this past weekend. The theatre is interesting in that you go in at the mezzanine level and have to go down two levels to the orchestra section. We sat in row L on the right side and had no problems viewing and hearing the show. The show was great. Like others have said, I had now idea who... More

We stopped by the box office on the day of the show and got in and out within a couple of minutes. The man at the ticket office was very friendly and helpful and we were on our way again. We returned that night and as stated, the doors opened 30 minutes prior to the show. The bar was open... More

This was one of the best Broadway shows I have ever seen. Carole King is more of a music legend that I originally thought. Wait to see all the songs that she wrote for other groups, and then goes on to set up her own solo performer career. When I say this is a must see, don't think twice about... More

Great adaptation of Carole King's life. I thought I knew her music well, well I got a history lesson that wont be forgotten soon. Killer talented cast, theatre small enough to be intimate, not a bad seat to be had.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
