I thought that SoHo in New York was just the name of the area similar to Soho in London. I did not realise that it was because it is the area South of Houston Street. I then discovered there is NoHo.
The areas south of Midtown are some of the trendier areas of the city. SoHo falls into this category. Canal Street is here and this is a place to get clothes or other items that may not be official.
There are some cool shops, bars and restaurants as well as some great street art. Well worth exploring.

A wonderful shopping experience
It’s a long street market with all brand showroom food outlets
All shops have mostly fresh collection of stock
4 to 6 hours walking to explore it fully

I spend a couple of hours walking around here over a couple of days. This is ground zero for high fashion shopping, and there were fashion shoots on the streets. The architecture is unique, lots of old industrial lofts that have been transformed years ago. Some good places to eat and drink. Fashion.

Soho is the short for South of Houston Street. There are a number of different areas that stretch across the lower end of the city. Visit them all!

This trendy neighborhood west of Little Italy is a great place to find worldwide top brands. Unique cafes/restaurants and hippie pop up stores are a great find. Love the vintage architecture.

We had a great time walking around Soho, full with colorful buildings, designer shops, and fewer people compare to rest of NYC.

Looking for a nice restaurant in Soho for a family dinner to celebrate a 21st birthday. We like all cuisines but looking for someplace nice

Thoughts on staying in SoHo for first time visitors to NYC? we'll be there 9 days in June 2021 and wondering if I should book a little more north to be with the other tourists. We're both 24 y/o

I love being a bit further from the hustle and bustle of midtown which is enough to turn many people off from New York but it depends on your preferences. If you love to eat and shop, Soho is for you and a short walk to some of the most charming neighborhoods like West Village, as well as the food and overall environment of Chelsea Market, Nolita (you must eat at the Musket Room) and Chinatown
What's best way to get to soho from 49th and lexington?

Hello there,
The subway is the most efficient way to travel from 49th & Lexington providing there are no major repairs or rerouting going on. The #D, #E or #6 train will get you to Soho. The MTA has a website that you can use to plot your trip. You’ll be able to see your options, determine how long it will take to get where you want to go. There’s always Uber which will be more expensive and take more time however the benefit is that you’ll get to see more of the city.
I hope this information helps you.

My partner and I are staying in soho area over New Year's Eve and would like to know the best places to go other than Times Square. Any good local places for a more chilled New Years? Perhaps a pub? Also do you need tickets for such places? TIA

Most anywhere in NYC you should check out advanced reservations, as even places that normally don't have reservations may have a New Year's event. Depends what you like, but Arturos on Houston is a great bar with brick oven pizza. There are hundreds of nooks though, so just get there days in advance and walk around different neighborhoods; SoHo has great places, check out the SoHo grand hotel bar on the 2nd floor.

You can get the subway from Penn Station 34th st and get off at Houston St. From there it's not far to walk to West Broadway

I am visiting on Thursday. How do I get there from the megabus drop off at 35th and 11/12th?

You can walk to Penn Station at the corner of 8th Ave. and 34th St. and go downstairs (follow the signs) to take the C or E subway to Spring St. in Soho. Or, there is the NYC yellow metered taxi, Uber, or Lyft.
