- JonnyFatboyDorchester, United Kingdom77 contributionsVery movingA piece of American history that gives a glimpse into the American psyche. Central to the exhibition are the people who died. Names, photographs and testimonies are tasteful, moving and somber. Interesting display on Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 25, 2023
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom3,349 contributionsPause for ReflectionThe site of the two towers which were destroyed in the terrorist attack in 2001 has become a very poignant place to visit. Located in the financial district of Manhattan where once there were two bustling office blocks there is now two waterfalls into the ground. Surrounding the two squares are recorded the names of the people who perished in the tragedy. I would recommend visiting this place as it should be a place for contemplation. We should never allow our differences to be so big that we choose to take the lives of others to get our point across and hopefully this is something that this park now represents.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 28, 2023
- craig1086Atlanta, Georgia1,867 contributionsA Nice Tribute.Came here to visit the 9/11 Memorial Pools. The park, as well as the pools, are well-maintained. Lots of people are here in the afternoon, but it's surprisingly quiet, besides the sound of the water running in the pools. A very somber site to visit, which makes you grateful for life. Nice display of the names & a memorial for the firemen lost is on site as well. A must visit while you're in NYC.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 17, 2023

- Charlotte B71 contributionsBeautiful, tearfulThis experience was genuinely tearful and although it was incredible don’t come if you are easily upset as it is very sad. The centre is beautiful and so is the surrounding area, the memorial is heartwarming and incredibly well built. It is so sad seeing all of the names and especially the white roses that are placed there on their birthdays. Beautiful place, definitely recommend.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024

They really did a magnificent job at the site to honor those that did at the World Trade Center in 2001, but it’s a nice somber meeting place that can be just as uplifting as it could be sad. The people who designed it and worked on the site should be proud of their efforts. Really great work done.

No visit to the 9/11 memorial is complete without walking around the two memorial pools that stand on the spot where the Twin Towers stood. I really liked the fact that there were staff there to ensure no one put objects onto the surface where the names of those who lost their lives are etched into. I also loved how some of the names had single flowers beside them.

9/11 is one of those days I remember like it was yesterday. I visited NYC for the first time in 1996 and I saw the Twin Towers from the Statue of Liberty. Little did I know that would be the last time I would see them in person. I visited New York about two or three times before this was established and was just a massive clean up. It was nice to see a tribute for all those who lost their lives. It honors not just Americans, it honors those from other nations who lost their sons and daughters as well. You can hear a pin drop hear. A great memorial to those who sadly perished on that infamous day.

The Memorial touches one's heart and is a brilliant tribute to the fallen. The 911 Museum, however, is totally over the top,and what should be perhaps a forty-five minute experience becomes an overwhelming exercise in visitor abuse. It should be one third the size and just concentrate and a few key points. Instead, it repeats testimony and imagery five times what it needs to do to convey this tragic day in US history. Exhausting and disappointing.

The sadness prevails, but the majesty of the tribute to each soul is evident in the pools. The thought that went into creating this marvelous creation gives everyone the opportunity to honor the many who perished and NEVER FORGET! Each name has been placed as close to their demise as possible. A White Rose is placed on each name on their birthday. Visitors can put other colored flowers or flags and such perfectly in the engraving. The water is so perfectly cascading to drown out all other noises in the footprint of the biggest disaster in my lifetime. Go and honor the lost and marvel on how we are resilient and never forget.

The area is emotionally charged. A respectful area to contenplate. There is a tree there that s called the survival tree. It survived the events on 9/11. It was moved to a nursery until the works were complete and now it is back with its own little fence around it. Phoenix from the ashes.

Stopped here as part of a whole city tour on 9/10. Tons of flowers and first responders paying their respects. The names of the victims are on the stone surrounding the two spots where the towers stood and if you see a flower there, it was placed by someone's loved one. There's a tree that survived the collapse which was transported to the Bronx to be nursed back to health then transplanted back. The art ball that was crushed remains crushed as the artist said he won't repair it until there's world peace. The double arch installation represents a phoenix rising.

We opted not to go into the 911 museum, but spent some time at liberty park. The memorial to all who were killed as a result of the 9/11 attacks is so beautifully done. It's a real credit to the city and more importantly to its people. It was very emotional taking time to walk around and read many of the names.

The moment we stepped onto the grounds of the memorial, the noise of the city faded away. There were so many people, respectfully existing together in the same space. Witnessing the magnitude of what happened on that day so long ago is forever memorialized at this site. No trip to NYC will EVER be complete without paying respects at this beautiful memorial.

You might be in the city but the quietness of are, people just stood looking at the waterfalls listening to the sound of it and looking at the names them who lost their lives. The stone is cool to touch and a fitting remembering space. The whole place is sereal and the skyline might have changed but the memories are still there.

You would have to get the subway up to Penn station which is about 10-15 mins on the A,C or E track.
