We visited Noatak National Preserve as part of a flightseeing adventure to visit four National Park sites in Alaska. While much of this state is gorgeous, I was very impressed with the beauty of the landscape in Noatak to the extent that this was my...More

There are no roads to Noatak so taking Arctic Back Country Flying Service is the means of getting there. If you are not into camping, a flight-seeing trip to this and four other national parks/preserves is just your answer. With the Brooks Range in view,...More

We flew in with Arctic BackCountry Flying Service. Our pilot was very knowledgeable. He pointed out musk ox and moose from the air. We landed on a gravel beach beside a river. Views were spectacular. If you choose not to camp there, you can get...More

We camped on a gravel bar and fished up and down river. We met two bears and a moose. And another group from Germany. Good fishing.

Saw lots of animals. Caribou of course also saw Fox, Musk Ox, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear and Wolves. Very interesting place to fly over and stay in the Preserve.

Flightseeing trip Kotzebue to middle Noatak and back, with a stop for lunch at Tulugak Lake. Fantastic subarctic scenery, and the Noatak River is stunningly blue (not the glacial silt or tannic brown of Interior Alaska rivers. Definitely would like to spend more time of...More

Worth the travel to experience the solitude. Getting there is not easy or cheap, but memories to last a lifetime.

Viewed the preserve by air with Arctic Backcountry Flying Service. Scenery was breathtaking and the wildlife viewing rewarding. We saw moose, caribou, musk ox, dall sheep, and a grizzly bear from the air. The river was just breaking up and the variety of colors amazing.

The Noatak River is a world class river, half a mile wide even in the low flow months. This is truely remote wilderness accessable only by boat or bush plane. The little village of Noatak is quaint and worth a visit if you are floating...More
