This is a beautiful ruin which includes an amazing view of the canyon floor. There is a little farm nearby and we could see the newly plowed field ready for planting. I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 due to the fact that...More

It's hard to give an archaeolocial site in Canyon de Chelly an average rating, only giving it because there are better sites if you are short on time. If you visit, go before shadows are cast on the site. It can be hard to see.

This is another great overlook about midway along the south rim drive of the Canyon. There are stunning views of the rocks and of the fertile green floor of the valley

View of Sliding Rock Ruin offers not only a view of the canyon but also one of the better vantage points to photograph the canyon. One of the many spectacular viewpoints on the South Rim.

This rock looks completely different when we passed it on the canyon floor. You must do both the floor and the rim drive for some amazing views!

Ground is mainly rock formations with occasional mud puddles. Gladly we found steps carved into the rock at strategic locations. If your balance or hiking ability are questionable, you might want to pass this area and go to another, more accessible, location.

View it during the South rim drive and during your floor canyon tour. I can't say enough about how brilliant these people were to build where they did and how long these homes were occupied. Don't forget those binoculars.
