I found this drive more interesting than the north rim drive. Stop at every overlook and walk as many of the short hikes or walks that you can. It is well worth it

The South Rim drive takes you to some of the best views of Canyon de Chelly. We visited both in the evening and in the morning, and the different colors throughout the day makes this an ever changing landscape. The colors in the late afternoon...More

We had already taken the jeep tours inside the canyon and did the south rim drive after visiting Canyonlands, Arches NP and Monument Valley, so though it was enjoyable, we were a bit fatigued at the end of the trip. If you have time for...More

Canyon de Chelly is actually two canyons. The north rim drive follows Canyon Del Muerto while the south rim drive closely follows the rim of Canyon de Chelly. If you have the time do both, although most visitors stick to the south rim because there...More

We stayed at the Thunderbird lodge and from there is the start of the south rim drive. There are numerous overlooks and laces for short hikes. Great to see.

The South rim has more to see and some stops don't require too much walking. If you are only going to walk one, Spider Rock is the one to do. It is simply amazing. The energy that surrounds this spire is strong. Very spiritual.

You must do the South Rim Drive. We also did the Jeep tour but truly, the rim drive was phenomenal. Stop at EVERY overlook and you will not be disappointed. Go all the way to the "Spider Rock" overlook, perhaps the best of the best...
