We took a trolley tour and crossed over to Coronado via the bridge, and WOW the views are magnificent. However you cross, you have to use the bridge!

We ttok the bridge to North Island intending to show my son the Naval Base and a formerly favorite Mexican restaurant (now closed). Traffic was horrendous so we did not stop at Hotel Del Coronado as planned.

The bridge has cross members that will float ! The navy did not want its ships to be trapped if the bridge were destroyed.

We drove over for the view and to get to Coronado Beach. Worth the drive just to see the sights, boats, water, San Diego skyline.

2 minutes. Cars only. Except for the onceper year race. Traffic can be bad going to Coronado in the AM

probably by taxi ... I am sure that bus goes that direction, but could be a long ride especially if you have baggage
