About
Take in the mesmerizing coastal views as you stroll down Crystal Pier. Watch the surfers in action, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to spot frolicking dolphins and whales during the migration season. Then, rent a bicycle and cruise down Ocean Front Walk and the Mission Bay Bike Path—both offer plenty of spots to pause for a bite to eat or a dip in the water. Pacific Beach is renowned as San Diego’s party capital, and the boardwalk is lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants. Unfortunately, the drive there can get rather congested, so consider coming in on Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner. – Tripadvisor

It's Easter Sunday on the Pacific Beach Boardwalk. Homeless people have taken over the majority of the boardwalk from Hornblend to Garnet. One of them is roaming the boardwalk and confronting passerby's in a loud, threatening way, and another is striking a baseball bat against a metal light fixture. The rest have made themselves at home and spread out all their stuff. I'm staying in a beachfront condominium in front of this circus. I arrived here on 3/12. On 3/14 EMT removed a deceased person from the boardwalk near Hornblend st, and on 3/19 another person passed away in front of my condo building. My wife and daughter are afraid , and they have had enough. We are going to cut our visit short and go home. Not going to come back here.

Nice beach.....BUT, Homeless/Transient/People suffering from Mental Illness is a True Epidemic in the area! Didn't feel safe and would never go with young children. Message to California: Your Property Tax is some of the highest in the US.....Your gas prices are $1.50 a gallon higher than east coast prices! You need to divert some of that money to Mobile Crisis Teams and homeless resources. Vacation revenue will undoubtedly be in decline!!

Massive amounts of crowds- it is basically a college type scene, bars serve basic college drinks, honestly save your self and go anywhere else. Beach was packed. Would never return

We went in the evening to have a dinner and a sunset. The food in the area is just alright, we ate a burger at a place called biggios burgers and the pier is only for a walk no food on it at all, only little cottages to rent. The boardwalk is fun, all types of peeps to watch and fascinate in.No guuci or per rucci here.

Love this beach ! Fantastic cliff views ! Does have a lot of seaweed but easy workaround for me. Never gets crowded. Crystal Pier is a great view also. People line up on the boardwalk to take pictures of the sunset. Restaurants and bars are very close.

A friend of mine lives near here, so I parked my car near his place and we walked back to the pathway above the beach, heading to Crystal Pier.
The walkway above the beach had great views of the beach, and interesting people watching. We walked out onto Crystal Pier, but just past the cottages on the pier was closed the day we were there.
He told me that he & his wife stayed in one of the cottages one time, and that you could feel the pier sway. I noticed that the boards of the pier seemed less than stiff in some places. They held my weight, but were "springy," so I stuck to the main beams of the structure. Made me a bit nervous, but there were cars on the pier, so it is evidently safe.
There are numerous tourist shops around Crystal Pier, but we only ventured briefly into one of them. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby. Parking near the pier is located nearby, but not right at the pier.

Sur Brian The Bruce landed in Pacific Beach, California, on September 6, 2012. And for over 10 years, he has reigned as “The Prince of Pacific Beach”. By establishing a spiritual doctrine now known as “Comodgulism” (TM), he has assisted many people, and groups of people, with embracing a positive-vibe, happy outlook on life. A true master of turning frowns upside down, he has led the way, through his mentoring programs, to assist others in becoming Comodgulists (TM) themselves; thereby perpetuating this doctrine across America’s Finest City. In appreciation for his outstanding deeds to society, his generosity, and insights regarding the brighter, more positive aspects of life, the residents of Pacific Beach, CA celebrate The Prince of Pacific Beach!

This was a fantastic location for us visitors from NJ to visit. The smooth stretch of sand was not huge, but was clean – maybe because there were not too many people there on that windy day.

After having lunch here, we strolled around to realize that there is no shortage of restaurants, vendors, stores and activities here. There is something for everyone here.

The quaint area had lots of diverse, friendly and relaxed people – mostly young – who had come out to enjoy the warm and sunny day. The water was a tad cold, so not too many people ventured in it.

There were some really cute signs and murals on the walls of the buildings. The souvenir stores had lots of interesting vintage items, and in spite of a few homeless people who were loitering around, we felt safe walking up and down the boardwalk.

We also got a chance to check out some waterfront condos for rent, but they looked a little run down and in need of repair.

Anyway, this Beach was on our list of places to visit when in San Diego. Glad to have checked that off.
