Neighborhood: Jamaica Plain
This Boston neighborhood feels like a distinct community unique and separate from the bustle of other areas. Beautiful Victorian homes, restaurants with an emphasis on being eco-friendly and providing local and organic food, and a large Hispanic community. Visit Centre and South streets for restaurants, cafes, and little shops. The Arnold Arboretum is a beautiful, large green space well worth a visit if you venture to JP.

We did the Sam Adams - Beyond The Brewhouse 45 minutes tour. This was a great tour and a way to learn about how Sam Adams creates their beers. It was nice to see the indoor workspace to see how all the fermenting happens, but I didn’t realize ahead of time that this Sam Adams location is a historical brewing location and they don’t bottle beer there. This location is more of a research and development space where they test out various new brews and can get feedback regarding if it works or not. In terms of the beers provided, all three of the basic package were a good mix of tried and true lager you expect and shifting to their experimental brews in line with the location. However, before attending the tour, I didn’t realize the $7 add-on for the straight from the barrel was an unfinished product that our tour guide was honest that most participants “probably wouldn’t finish and wouldn’t be ready for another year or so”. If I had known this, I wouldn’t have purchased this add on because I expected it to be a brew that was just finished and essentially ready to be put on draft at the facility and we were getting the fresh pour before the final step. Personally, I took 2 sips before putting the beer down as I found it undrinkable and noticed about 3/4 of the tour group doing the same thing. So overall, would recommend this tour, but can probably skip the $7 add on unless you want the experience of tasting unfinished beer.

When in Rome right? Sam Adam’s beer isn’t usually what we drink but if you’re ever in the Boston area then it’s definitely a must. To start off just get the main tour because it did offer a quick stop to one of the main brew house even though it’s really not used anymore. Staff is quick to help and answer questions. We got to try 2 of their beers plus 1 more that was in the testing stage, it had a bacon after taste, not many people liked it but it was awesome that they gave it out to us. Be aware though because you can end up drinking more samples than you expected, pitchers were going around. I highly recommend taking ride share just in case you go over, and plus the parking is kinda small from what I remember, or I didn’t remember after a “few” samples (I’m a lightweight). After the tour a case of one of their beers was VERY affordable, not to mention the guide was super informative and funny. Cheers!!!

Ended up here on a recommendation and really glad we took their advice.
We done the $25 dollar tour with Lesley she was absolutely fantastic.. knowledgeable and hilarious in equal measure.
Lasted just over 45 mins and didn't even notice the time passing.
Would definitely recommend for all as my wife who had no interest beforehand also enjoyed.
The drinks throughout were a mixture of lager, stout and another variation and gladly received😁
One thing to notice is we went down to do the $10 tour but missed it by 15 mins so tours are staggered.
$25 was a good experience.
Definitely brilliant way to pass the time

Did the basic tour. Casey was a fantastic guide; we learned everything about the process, she answered all of our questions and we had a few laughs along the way.
Great value for the money. We got to drink 3 different beers along the way and stopped in the tap room before leaving.
Lots of “trial” or “experimental” beers on site here that you can’t get anywhere else that might not make it to market.
Lots of merch in the gift shop at super reasonable prices!
Defiantly coming back to the tap room any time I’m around.

Very informative $10 tour that included three 4 to 5 ounce beer samples. We had the Boston Lager, a seasonal and a lesser known, but publicly available option. Head to the bar area afterwards to purchase beers on tap or from the coolers that are in the R&D stage and not available anywhere else. Ask the bartender for favorites and try a taste of 1 or 2 before ordering

As someone who actually went to the brewery and didn’t get scared off by a piece of fabric, it was great! We took the basic tour and had a fantastic time! Plenty of beer, some of which you can’t get anywhere else! Awesome to see the research and development side of Samual Adams! The tour guide was great!
Worth the drive!

We were spending a few days in Boston and didn't know what to do with our evening. We came across the brewery on a quick internet search and thought we'd check it out.
We did a tour and stayed afterwards for some drinks and musical bingo - it ended up being one of the best nights of our trip! It was a great time, awesome vibe and the prices were really reasonable.

Our guide Joel was funny and knowledgeable. We toured 3 rooms and had 3 different beer tastings. At the end of the tour we were given a small Samuel Adams glass cup. Definitely visit the Tap Room and get a flight of beers. 🍻

We took the Signature Tour with my wife and grown kids. This was a great experience- educated on the ingredients and beer making process. The guides were friendly, welcoming and funny. We had the opportunity to take 3 different beers (flight glasses)... probably got the equivalent of two full beers AND got to keep the glass. All of this for 10 bucks... well worth it- good value!

We took an uber from downtown Boston out to the brewery and we were glad we did! We did the standard tour and it was a great one. There was a very healthy serving of beer during the tour! We even got to try some R&D beer:) We enjoyed getting a custom flight afterwards too.

Is the brewery tour free or is there a price? The websites super vague, we will be visiting in March. Thank you in advanced!

Free but they ask for a donation - well worth $10! :)

Hi there, I was just wondering how you came across a free tour. The official website is kind of confusing and doesn't mention anything about a short free tour. Would be grateful if you could let me know. Many thanks
Written August 17, 2019
I would call to confirm the times. When we were there Aug 2019, the first free tour was at 11:00 am and then every 20 minutes. We took the orange line to Stony Brook and it was just a short walk. The smokestack says "Haffenreffer," not Sam Adams.

Yes when we went years ago there was a fee however since time has passed I believe the fee might be higher and I would contact them directly to find out exactly how much the fee is now. Have fun because we did for sure...!

I enjoyed myself so much on this tour that I forgot to take in this information. Perhaps their website can illuminate this detail for you.

For the classic tour, can you purchase a ticket or register online ahead of time? Also, what are the tour times on the weekend? Thanks!

We just turned up at the brewery for the free tour. All info is on line.
