The area
Neighborhood: Seaport District / South Boston Waterfront
This area has been expanding and becoming more and more popular, for good reason. Not surprisingly, the seaport district of South Boston is located beautifully along the water. The area is designed for easy strolling along the HarborWalk, and there are bars and restaurants for all ages and budgets. The Institute of Contemporary Art is located in this area in a contemporary building with an absolutely stunning deck overlooking the water. In the summer time there are Friday music concerts on the deck of the museum. Nearby, there are many green spaces to enjoy.

Snowport's winter wonderland is back with its annual Holiday Market. Last night's bright tiny lights lit up the area with over 100 vendors, a tree market and cocktail bar. Lots of special events during the winter months. Check out the website for special events during this holiday season.

During the holiday season, the Seaport turns into the Snowport Winter Village. Made up of kitschy holiday shops and yummy holiday treats like candy cane flavored macarons, these pop up stands make for some unique last minute Christmas gifts if there's anyone on your list that is hard to shop for. Someone who has everything already.

Overall, it was a nice time walking around with my husband. Reminded us of the European Christmas markets we visited a few years ago!

I took this route to get to the Institute of Contemporary Art (which is Amazing). The boulevard style street has a number of striking and colourful sculptures, plenty of coffee shops and eateries, and is walking distance to the Harbour, Boston Tea Party museum, and the east side shopping streets.

There is a lot going on in the Seaport, and it is well worth visiting. If given a choice, though, I would not stay in the Seaport itself, and instead would stay in another Boston neighborhood and plan on traveling there. There are many fine restaurants and bars in the Seaport, but the area is incredibly overbuilt and congested. Traffic is bad, parking is incredibly expensive, and there is very little open space.

Imagine yourself here 200+ years ago.
Honestly, the city is still small enough to think that way. It’s special to see the USS Constitution in the harbor at the Navy base.

We were in town the other night and chose to take a water taxi vs the MBTA to Charlestown. Easy access from the Seaport District and far more scenic!

We were visiting a museum nearby so decided to have a nice long stroll afterwards. It is worth taking a look as it has a really nice vibe and plenty of bits and pieces to look at that are visually interesting.

We are not staying in this hotel again.
We paid a lot for the room plus a daily destination charge but they wouldn’t let us use the swimming pool. Reservations were required.
