The items in the house are true to the 1800’s and early 1900’s. The museum is by guided tour only with a $10 admission fee. When visiting the museum, be sure to ask about the family that lived here - interesting story. Going through the...More

Interesting little tour of a house that belonged to one family who planned to turn it into a museum. Your guide is personable and well informed and chats away providing some cool little insights.

I had the best time at the Gibson House Museum. The tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. The house itself is charming, well preserved and there is so much to see. I really enjoyed learning about the history of the house and the Gibson...More

What s beautifully preserved Victorian home appointed with original fixtures and adornments (not reproductions). However, the historical significance of why the home was donated was lost on us as it does not appear that anything remarkable occurred there (either in the home or within the...More

The tour was $9 per person and lasted about 40 minutes. You see several floors of the house - only the upper floors where the service staff slept is not part of the museum. Unlike other great houses from long ago, this family planned for...More

Gibson House was in the same family for a very long time, and its furnishing and decor are authentic and not reproductions. It's a real slice of Back Bay history. Tours are on the hour, and front door is locked until the previous tour concludes...More

Cool little museum today on Beacon Street in Boston. It's a five story house (plus basement) built in 1860 and is like a time capsule for a "middle class" house between then and about 1925. It was owned by multiple generations of one family that...More
