Neighborhood: Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

It is easy to miss this memorial as it is right along a busy road and a bar street.
I recommend going here when it is dark, as you walk under the columns, you can look down and it looks like a starry sky, which makes it more surreal when you look up and realize just how many names are etched around each column. A hazy misty rises from the grates as you walk over that can give a more unearthly quality to the memorial.

Beautifully done. This is a wonderful memorial to those who died in the Holocaust. At first glance I thought the 50 foot spires are frosted, but then I realize they are engraved with numbers representing the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust. The stories from the survivors were also etched into the glass. So emotional and beautiful. A must experience.

Very moving to do with children. Especially touching at nighttime. I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting much because the pictures really don’t do it Justice. But we happened to find it one night walking and it was an exceptional experience. Very well designed with moving tributes with first hand accounts from survivors and all the numbers of victims listed. The staggering visualization of that many innocent people killed was put it into perspective for my 9 and 11 year old. I’ll be honest my main motivation for travel in general is to expose my children to different life experiences, this especially because someone at their school is an extreme small mind who thinks the Holocaust didn’t really happen. This was a great experience and made us all tear up. Thank you for a well thought out design and for the physical remembrance that these people mattered and their stories need to be told. If for nothing else than to ensure we don’t let this happen again.

We noticed the New England Holocaust Memorial on one of our walks. I'm glad we took a look. It is a well done, moving memorial that puts into perspective the sheer atrocities that occurred. It both makes you think and makes you uncomfortable, exactly what this type of memorial should do, in my opinion.

This was one of the most moving and beautiful Holocaust Memorials I have seen anywhere. The concentration camp numbers of countless people lost to hate and horror are “tattooed” on clear towers. Beyond and through them you can people going about their lives: sitting at cafes, walking their dogs, playing with their children. It is an incredibly moving experience.

This was my 8 y/o first exposure to the Holocaust. I hadn't meant to take her here, but we ended up walking by and therefore we moved through the monument. I explained it to her, and we read it all. It was extremely moving and well done as a tribute to those who suffered at the hands of the Nazis. May we never forget.

So poignant and utterly sad, reading the truthful words of those horrifically impacted by the murderous Nazis.
The respect shown by the City of Boston, is evident and the arrangment of this memorial, was quite unique and yet, so hard-hitting.
So worthy of seeing and to read the comments.

The architecture and design of this memorial are truly remarkable. It features six stunning glass towers that stand 54 feet tall, symbolizing the 6 million Jews lost during the Holocaust. Each tower has a pit of fire at its base, which creates a haunting display of smoke rising into the chamber above.
As you walk through, you'll notice countless ID numbers etched into the glass pillars. These numbers serve as a poignant reminder of the individuals and families who suffered, reflecting the tattoos that prisoners received during that dark time.
This beautiful memorial was brought to life by a group of dedicated Holocaust survivors in the Boston area, and it was officially dedicated in October 1995. It provides a heartfelt space for reflection, emphasizing the importance of human rights and standing as a beacon of memory and hope for all.

Very touching and unexpectedly immersive in this outdoor setting. No planning required. Accessible to anyone walking by. We took a few moments and walked through, read the accounts of the holocaust survivors. I’m glad we did.

We had no idea that this memorial even existed. We happened upon it on a very rainy morning while we were waiting for Sam Adams Tap Room to open.
This was equally sobering and hopeful. Hopeful that nothing like this will ever happen again.
The mist depicting the gas chambers was a painful reminder as we walked thru the 6 towers.
