- Richard SAngmering, United Kingdom786 contributionsProbably one of the best museum experiences in the worldWow, what an experience an interactive journey, not only about the Boston Tea Party but the history leading upto the battle of Lexington. The tour guides, in character were amazing, with group participation really made it real, finishing off with Hollywood quality films explaining the march of the British and the minutemen of Lexington. It was emotional, thought provoking and a museum experience like no other. An absolute must for Boston.Wow, that is a great review! - taraoneilBoise, Idaho101 contributionsEntertaining HistoryIt was entertaining history. Kids 11,8,5,3. 3 year old struggled but the rest did well and enjoyed it. There is a lot of standing so be prepared for that. A couple things that could be improved: they started talking before everyone was in the room, it felt a little rushed. Also, you didn’t get to look around very much always being scooted to the next room. I had a seat for the last movie but most of the group didn’t, I was glad I did. It was expensive which is frustrating. We did all love it though and glad we did it.Greetings Tara, We're so happy to hear that you had such a great time! Thank you for sharing your experience here. - The World is My OysterOrlando, Florida21,671 contributionsAwesome Tour!We took a group of 135 students and chaperones there today and had a wonderful experience! The staff there is truly dedicated to each and every tour. Our sales manager, Scott Harris, truly went above and beyond to ensure that our group had dedicated tour times and accommodated our large party with great customer service. The place itself is really cool, as it makes you step back in time to Colonial Days. The reenactments are very good, and "throwing" tea in the harbor is a great tradition. The gift shop had many great items, including all sorts of teas. The upstairs restaurant/cafeteria also has a good food option and multiple tea you can sample! Great overall experience, thanks to Scott and his dedicated team!Greetings Steve, We're glad to hear that you enjoyed Scott Harris and had a great time! We hope you'll come back for more next time you're in one of our other destinations. - Anne DSugar Land, Texas31 contributionsSurprisingly FantasticWhen we approached the venue we were skeptical. However, the tour was one of our top three experiences in Boston. Our tour guide “Peter” was phenomenal. She stayed in character before, during and after the tour. You are made to feel as if you are part of that night by handing out cards with individuals names of participants of the Boston Tea Party. Highly recommended. These are all things we love to hear. Thank you so much for your comments! Our guides and storytellers take pride in what they do. - LBCdovsNew Jersey292 contributionsWorth a visitHad a really nice experience. Actors do a phenomenal job and are very humorous. The company in general does an excellent job covering the historical importance of this event and we’re able to squeeze in more than I had expected. Came here with my 6 year old which I had mixed feelings about, but we made it through and he was happy to get on the boat, explore it and throw the bag in. Would definitely recommend this for pretty much anyone.Wow, that is a great review! Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience. - Debest2Des Plaines, Illinois76 contributionsFun way to learn a bit of our history.I wish history was taught like this when I was in school. It is interactive and really captures what I think the feelings of the Colonists were at that time. Factual and fun. I would recommend for families and for anyone wanting to know what happened at that time, to help us become independent.Wow, thank you for that wonderful review! We're glad to know we made it worthwhile. Our guides work hard to make their presentations interesting, and we love sharing these comments with them. This was an informative tour. I would say that it was a little pricey and they put a lot of people into each group that goes through. They let you recreate throwing tea into the harbor but with large groups you are lucky to have enough time to do it and get a picture. Also, they let you tour the ship that it occurred on but even that seemed rushed. The tour is not cheap and it would have been nice to spend a little more time being able to look and explore more

We pre-purchased tickets in a package in the morning and arrived around 2pm to be told that they weren't selling any more tickets for the day and we wouldn't be able to enter even though we had already paid for our tickets. There were several other families there at the same time having the same problem. The company we bought the tickets through is supposed to issue a refund but that doesn't help the fact that we wasted over an hour dealing with this on our one day in Boston when we could have spent the time elsewhere. In my opinion you shouldn't sell tickets through 3rd parties if you aren't able to manage the number of tickets sold and turn people away who have spent time and money to see the museum. Very disappointed in how this was handled.

Except that I was there, and thoroughly enjoyed this look into our nation's history. The "tour guides" stayed perfectly in character (even when chastising phone usage, which is permitted everywhere except for the museum area), and the interactive portions of the tour were like the best parts of a school field trip, but experienced as an adult. One drawback is the seats for the introduction and for the short film were incredibly uncomfortable, but I'll chalk that up to trying to remain authentic to the time.
I'll also point out the irony of the post tour tea room serving the original tea blends from the Boston Tea Party, but charging tax on them (and more than the 3% that led to the Sons of Liberty throwing the crates overboard), but the pastries were good and the experience was educational and entertaining.

My husband and I recently participated in this tour. I would recommend purchasing tickets online and showing up early in the day for best tour times. Cast members were educational and humorous. We would highly recommend this for children as well as adults.

This is an attraction only if you're with 8-12 years old kids, who are history freaks at the same time.
On the other hand it's an excellent showcase for adults, how to make money from a famous history event. Few era dressed third grade actors, short movie, some "historic items" in the "museum" and a cup of tea = 30$ here we go.
A classic tourist trap to squeeze your money, so don't bother. If you're for ships go to the USS Constitution - it's free, original and authentic piece of history.

Take a tour into history. Wow I was impressed by the hosts as they played characters of past American revolutions. You'll be sure to be educated and entertained. Best part was you'll get to throw the tea into the bay!

My 16 year old daughter & I had an absolute blast!! This is interactive history at its best!! The tour guides/historical actors really embraced their roles and made learning more about the Boston tea party a fun experience. Everyone in our group got into the act. The structure of the tour is very well done. This is a must see in our book!!! The tea house was great too!!

We spent about 90 minutes here. The actors were appropriately loud so we could hear and fun and some cool facts as they told the story. Two eleven year old boys were kept engaged (that tells you something), we kept moving. I highly suggest the am before too hot. Some great artifacts on display. My children now have perspective of this pivotal point in history. They understand details and had fun learning. Life long learning took place. And yes, throwing replica cases of tea overboard was thoroughly enjoyed by the boys.

This museum is an interactive experience where you are given a role as a son or daughter of liberty. The guides do a great job of staying in character and playing off the group’s energy. Overall a fun experience and nothing quite like chucking a box of “tea” into the harbor. The museum is a mix of movies and artifacts that are deftly woven into the act. Lastly, you can get yourself a cup of tea in the tea shop.

We loved coming here. First you do get to learn about history. Second during the reenactment my son loved that he could be loud and yell with the crowd. The staff were so good with us and even dad enjoyed throwing the tea in the harbor. I highly recommend

We get a $7.50 discount per ticket to the Tea Party experience with our Silver On& Off Trolley tickets. How do get tea party tickets using this discount?
Written July 8, 2021
Most likely you would have to purchase the tickets when you arrive there at the tea party experience.

Hi, Can I board the ship with a 10 month baby and take the tour?
Written October 23, 2019
Yes you can, but the tour taks 1.5 hour, some time with high voice of the actors so I realy don't know if it fit.

Good afternoon, my family and I will be visiting Boston from the uk over the xmas holidays and was wondering if this attraction will be open xmas day, many thanks in advance. Colin
Written September 15, 2019
I believe that is one of the only days they close. It would be a shame for you to miss this event as it is well worth the visit. You feel as if you have been transported back in time. Do try to fit it in another day.

Purchased Old Town trolley tour that included Tea Party museum. Is there a way to reserve specific tour time in advance?
Written August 19, 2019
I don’t think they take reservations. The trolley stop is right across the street from the Museum. They have several tours going through, in different areas, at the same time. The tour moves quickly through the museum, maybe 45 min total. Ends at gift shop where you could shop or walk back out.

We will be arriving in Boston in September on a cruise ship for the day. Roughly how far do you think it will be from where the ship is likely to dock. Many thanks
Written July 11, 2019
No idea. Why don’t you email the purser of the ship before you sail and ask? What I can tell you is that if the walking distance is about the same as the taxi, I would walk because Boston traffic was the worst in the world.
Written July 11, 2019
What does it mean when you say there are public one-hour tours scheduled today @10am and 2pm versus normal tours on other times? Is it just the length of time?
Written April 17, 2019
it is a guided tour. every half hour. we were there in April, the line was not long to get tickets for the show. in the peak season I would buy tickets online. it saves a couple of bucks and it ensures your spot for your time slot.
Written April 19, 2019
We will be in Boston in October. We are planning to tour the city and visit the Boston Tea Party at the end of our day. We are looking for the nearest Legal Seafood for dinner (maybe within walking distance) from this museum. I see that there are several Legal Seafoods in that area, but which one would be the closest? Thank you for your help.
Written August 16, 2018
The “barking crab” was extremely popular when I was in Boston. A second popular restaurant was “the daily catch seaport.” Neither did I try...but the amount of people at both was mostly local.
Written August 28, 2018
Some of the reviews say wheelchair friendly, others say no. I have a daughter in a stroller-type wheelchair that 2 people can lift over or up a step or two. Can she actually get on the boat?
Written August 9, 2018
I think it's feasible to access the boat with a wheelchair or a similar device, but you might not find it easy to manoeuvre on to/on the ship.
If should have someone with you who can lift it and move it by hand.
Written August 9, 2018
Would you recommend buying tickets (2) ahead of time, or can you just buy them at the door?
Written August 4, 2018
We bought tickets when we arrived but later noticed that there were coupon codes online that we could have used.
