We were amazed to find a hidden gem in Gunnison, so many buildings full of historic items. We only had an hour, but tried to take as much in as possible. To fully enjoy this museum you need to spend several hours.

We stumbled onto this “gold mine” of a museum as we were headed out of Gunnison. What a great afternoon we had there. The range of displays is phenomenal. It was well named by a prior reviewer: the Smithsonian of the West!

We had researched this place before we came and knew it cost $10 each to enter. On the first day we looked around for 1 1/2 hours and hardly touched the surface. They gave us tickets to return for the next 3 days and we...More

I especially enjoyed the old schoolhouses and the displays therein. My favorite item in the entire museum was the "Rules for Teachers" list. Teachers of that era were not allowed to cavort with men or hang out in ice cream parlors.

This is a museum that is constantly growing. Have visited it many times over the years. Has everything from old clothes and hats to trains to a fairly large collection of cars. Only negative would be the museum is in constant state of change so...More

For once I read TripAdvisor reviews and I'm glad I did. For a few bucks we spent a happy 3 hours here and could have spent more. Everything from trains to old cars to old farm equipment, there is something for everyone. At least adults,...More

The other reviewers are correct--large collections of stuff. It seems that any and everything are in this mamouth museum. No credit or debit cards taken. No senior discount. I would tell you to save your money.

While Gunnison may not be on everyone's itinerary, the Gunnison Pioneer Museum is worth a visit. In addition to an extensive auto collection which includes many trucks, there are two complete historic school houses, many early pieces of farm equipment as well as buildings with...More

I believe it was $10 for adults and $3 for kids. I don't remember the ages considered kids.
