Neighborhood: Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighborhood.

This was such a fun stop on our adventure in Chinatown! It is located in an alley way, very small location, but you can watch the 2-3 ladies making the cookies, they gave out samples, and had a variety to purchase so we could take them home and share!

Because I was alone and not with a tour group, this was more of a shopping experience than anything else. That said, it was interesting to see two ladies working and note the alleyway where the shop is lactated. Fresh fortune cookies taste good!

Small and hidden in a little alley, the birthplace of the fortune cookie as we know it (apparently). It's a tiny 'shop' with a few ladies working the big machines in the back, making hundreds of the cookies a day. Very cool to see it in action! Pretty reasonably priced bags of the cookies, and you get nice commemorative bag with your purchase. Keep in mind: cash only!

Not to far from the "main street", its a simple Factory with a lot of choices.
People There are friendly.
Food is realy good. My kids were amazed about the place and the taste. Even if the Price is little bit high, you should definitly buy and taste.

Its must go and a SF gem.

Easy to miss but easy to find. Small hole in the wall factory of delicious fortune cookies. You can watch them be made and enjoy them fresh from the press. Definitely something to check out in Chinatown.

You would miss this if you didn’t know it was there. It is down a very small alley in Chinatown. We were told about it by locals. It is a very small shop where you can see the staff shaping and making the cookies. You can taste and buy. There is not much more to say. Worth popping in if you are in Chinatown.

We were here just after 9am on a weekday and it was quiet. Its a quick look at the workers making the cookies, a photo and we bought a box of mixed fortune cookies. They were tasty. Worth coming.

Giant cookie! Nuff said.

Cookies are crispy and fresh.

The check out lady was very honest - I thought I hadn't given her enough because the bills were really stuck together but she corrected me.

I had some time on a recent trip to San Francisco to explore the city on my own. I stumbled into the Chinatown neighborhood on my way to Fisherman's Wharf and I could not have stumbled into a cooler place. The fortune cookie company was located on a small side street that you could easily miss if you did not know it was there. I was not looking for it actually, just happened to see a cute little alley way and the company was located right there. Super cool find! They let you come into the store and take pictures and watch the fortune cookies the other items they offer get made. They give out free hot samples literally right off the cookie press. So cool!

Such a gem! Wait in short fast moving line to go in small store and select cookies and see them making the cookies. Only takes a few minutes to go through. Got there with google maps and it led us to main road. Look down alley where other stores are. Never knew how the cookies were made until now!
