Old school, crowded, Blues Bar. Great vibes. A for sure not to miss spot with real people in SF. Just outside of North Beach.

We stopped in, wanting to visit the oldest bar in California and were so happy we did! The patrons and bartender were extremely friendly. Conversation was fun as well as the shots and other drinks. And guys, not many restrooms like this one! A most...More

Wow! I was in search for a cold drink and a bathroom break one block off popular Columbus St in hopes to find something a little more interesting and we totally hit the jackpot with this place. I follow my ears to the music and...More

Grungy , stale, and glorious! Filled with a mix of bohemian characters. Love the atmosphere. Live music was spectacular and premium drinks are $6. This should be part of any visit to SF.

It's more than a dive bar - it's one of the only places in SF that always has live music at 5pm! The bands are always terrific, the second show starts at 9 or 9:30. There is generally a cover charge for the second show...More

The music was very good. Band was a group of veteran musicians who know their craft. Beer was inexpensive and the barkeep was friendly and efficient. The bar itself is smorgasbord of people, noises and sights. This is not for the faint of heart...but enjoyable...More

So much fun!! Music is amazing. No where to sit and we loved it! Classic dive bar. Oldest bar in San Francisco.

When you are in San Francisco you have to check the oldest bar in the city. A dive in the truest sense of the word. From the gruff bartender, to the locals and the original décor it all spells dive. BUT IN A GOOD WAY....More

It is an old bar, with a unique crowd and staff. If you go in wanting that you will love it. There will be smells, people missing teeth and cash only deals, with bartenders expecting tips. It offers a very unique experience, full of personality...More

What a dump. Don’t bother. Surly barman. More selection of urine than beers. Needed a shower after leaving.

The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds
for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North
Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

Sorry, we were staying at the Grant Hotel on Bush Street. I do not know of any hotels. It is in the area called North Beach, a great area with unique shops and restaurants.

Sometimes on weekend nights, I believe it was $5 but during the day and weekdays there didn't seem to be.
