We got a detailed map of the area in the Welcome Centre, so here was our first port of call, to visit Fort Point and get another perspective on the famous bridge. With a clear blue sky, it was a grand ramble along the trail...More

We spent a few hours strolling along here from the view of the golden gate bridge right across to Fishermans Wharf. Nice fresh breeze from the ocean, great views, benches to sit on. Would have liked a coffee shop close by!

Very nice promenade. You can see the ocean and the Goldengate bridge far far away. There are some great viewpoints where you can take some pictures

I could walk the Golden Gate bridge in a shirt! We were lucky to have the most beautifull weather for SFO.

Nice to walk or cycle to the bridge - about an hour by bike from downtown. Range of views as you get closer to the bridge at least as good as the lookouts next to the bridge.

This was by far one of the best spots in San Francisco, the views were awesome and breathtaking. One thing I will say is that it is pretty chilly at the promenade so bring a hoodie or a jacket.

On our second day we came here in the afternoon and what they told us was to bring a jacket as it can be quite windy around this time. Fact, it was windy and cold, so bringing a jacket was a definite must. The promenade...More

This area is a must for local tourists, but I would not recommend for out of the area travelers. Yes, there is a great view of the bridge, but it can be biting cold, windy and the fog can roll in taking away the view....More

One of the must do in San Francisco. Usually not that crowded you can go pretty much whenever you want in the week. To do in family, with friends or alone.

Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful
backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to
the Marina. Originally the location for the
Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose
remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much
of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a
world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a
jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city.

There are a couple of parking lots in different areas along the bay, but I know for sure there is one where the parking is free. It isn't very big, so it fills up quickly, but it is free. It is right by Crissy Field and... More
