I have lived in Sanfrancisco now for 50 years and i have always loved this area of the city .My first time here i watched some retired Italian guys play Bochie balls in the Park here . I loved how good they got along with each other while playing . I have always respected the Italian group of people who i later gained respect for in Sanfrancisco . They are the only people who i would trust besides my Friends who work in a couple restaurants plus Mr George Lucus and Stephan Speilberg .I did the Opera for three years as a Actor in Sanfrancisco so i met many people who i now call friends . And being a former Doorman of a Union Square hotel that was then owned by a bunch of Italian business men who i got to know better over the years . Who i gained alot of respect for who never lied to me Ever .

Briefly, it must be on the list. This neighborhood is vibrant and lovely both day and night. It looks like Europe and specifically like Italy as the name denotes. It is full of Italian restaurants and cafes. At night, it is full of people who are staying up until late hours.

North beach (it's not called little italy, no idea why they call it little italy) is a very nice "district" in San Francisco. I come here every weekend. I recommend coming here. Also note that too far up Columbus ave is useless. Stay in the area to the south of North beach, the far end of Columbus is kinda sketchy.

We wslked trough this area and we think is was not really something special. There was quite some dirth on the streets an the neigbourhood did not impress me. The restarants we saw did not look inviting for a lunch. May just bad luck

There is no neighborhood in SF called Little Italy. It's called North Beach and it's more than just Italian flare, beatnicks, and more chinese than italians these days.. I have heard tourists call it the "little Italy" of SF much like saying SF is the Paris of the West or something like that. But Little Italy is not the actual name.

I love San Francisco because of the close proximity of everything. Everything is within walking distance, and little Italy is the same. All the restaurant, the ambiance is quite different from anything else. I love Italian food so I guess that is why I love it so much. Worth a walk through :)

San Francisco does not have an area called "Little Italy" but the area called North Beach is a little Italy. Bordered by Chinatown, as is the case in so many cities, North Beach is restaurant and coffee house heaven. This area has shrunk as the Chinatown area has expanded, but still houses delis, cafes, butchers and bakeries - oh, yes, and Beach Blanket Babylon - and is a great destination for an afternoon.

Someone from Los Angeles must have started this posting. San Francisco has never had a neighborhood called Little Italy. The Italian-flavored neighborhood is called North Beach, and has the massive Italian church, St. Peter and Paul's; the Wonderful Washington Square for people-watching, great delicatessens, bakeries and restaurants.

It is sad to hear that Chinatown is starting to edge out Little Italy, so be sure to see it while you can! The food, the smells, the chatter, the buzz is memorably set in the midst of beautiful homes, parks and churches. It feels like a village in the midst of a big city. It is very safe to walk around here day or night, but the area is very hilly, so have your walking shoes ready.

El mejor lugar para comer en Little Italy en SF ? Pasta y pizza
Written December 13, 2022
I was talking about the neighborhood of little Italy, so it doesn't really have an "opening " time. I'm sure there are many restaurants that serve breakfast therefore probably fairly early.

Can anyone recommend an intimate Restaurant in Little Italy with fabulous food that is BYOB? ty!
Written December 9, 2016
Every restaurant in SF is BYOB but there is a corkage fee between $15.00 to $30.00. Check with the restaurant online through their website.
If you want authentic Italian in North Beach try North Beach Restaurant. There are so many tiers of types of Italian. There are restaurants with sidewalk seating, cafe/bistro style, modern, cheap and expensive. Check on TripAdvisor for SF North Beach Restaurants. They nailed it already - I live here and TripAdvisor recommendations are AWESOME! Trust them.
