Great Views of the City and Bay
A bit of a workout making the climb to and up historic Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, but the reward is amazing 360 views of the city and San Francisco Bay. Limited parking available. You can catch bus #39 to reach here.

Good views without going to the top
I should preface by saying I did not pay the $7 to go to the top. I mainly went to check out the murals which were very nice. You can still get good views of the city and Bay Bridge from the grounds. I can't say if it's worth it to go to the top.

Great View and a Bit of History
Great view of the bay and city. You can see the zig-zag of Lombard Street, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Oakland Bridge and learn a bit about the purpose of the lookout on the hill during the Gold Rush. We paid for a day pass for MUNI - which allows one to ride any bus, cable car or street car, and took the Coit Tower bus up the hill and back down before transferring to a cable car to tour other areas of the city.

If you like lots of steps LOL
Use bus number 39 to get there. Unfortunately for us, we were not aware of this and from the Embarcadero we took the Greenwich steps (approx 200 steep steps) and then the second set of steps up to Coit Tower. After a drink and rest, we were advised that the lift in the Coit Tower was out of action. So another 234 steps to climb (I counted every one of them LOL) and paid $10 for the priviledge. However from the top of the tower, the views are stunning.

Nice views but the glass didn't allow for great photos
There were some really nice views from the top of Coit Tower. When we visited, the elevator wasn't working and had to take the stairs (13 floors), but we didn't have an issue with this. The ground floor and the beginning of the staircase were covered in beautiful murals. At the top, the views of San Francisco were great. The observation platform is quite small and it can easily get crowded, but at least we had some nice views. What I didn't really like was the protective glass in the openings that limited the photos we could take, especially if we wanted to avoid a reflection on the photo. On top of that, the glass wasn't a bit dirty too.

Worth the climb for the view
Starting from Lombard there were many staircases to climb to the Coit Tower early one Sunday morning but the line was small the sun was out and the views from the top stunning Whilst waiting for the elevator we admired the murals on the wall s. We were thankful that the elevator was running but it was a bit cramped at eight at a time. But we were thankful we did not have to climb anymore stairs!! Out of the elevator a flight to the top to be rewarded with clear sights around San Francisco. The Golden Gate was peering out of the fog

    Busy, but views
the view from the top is much superior 360 degree view than the partial views from the park below, so worth coming up. There was a big queue for the elevator in the afternoon, but if you walk up the 13 flights then you don't need to queue (other than the short queue to buy tickets). Once at the top it was busy. There was an open window in most directions but curiously not in the direction of the Golden Gate Bridge so photos in that direction had to be through the glass. Great 360 degree views though.

    Fun time
You can see this memorial tower all over town so we walked up the hill to get to it, then climbed the tower. Pretty neat murals inside the base and first portion of tower. You need to be in decent shape to get up on the stairs. I believe there is an elevator but it was not working day I went. Good 360 degree city views once you get to the top. Pretty nice gift shop on ground floor.

    Nice views from the top
Walked up to the Coit tower from town and once arrived, exhausted discovered the No 39 Muni parked right outside!!! When we visited, the lift was broken meaning we had to climb the stairs which was actually quite nice seeing the murals on the walls. Excellent views over San Francisco from the top and useful to help get your bearings. Would recommend as a must see.

Nice view to city of SF
View at the top is gorgeous. 360 degree view of pier and SF city. However, when I was there, the lift is out of service. So need to climb 13 stories to the top. Not recommended for senior or physicsl challenge travellers

We walked up to Coit Tower from Levi's Plaza through a hidden neighborhood of charming & quirky homes, beautiful gardens & parks, boardwalks, narrow footpaths and brightly colored fire hydrants all clinging impossibly to the side of a steep hillside - really lovely if you can handle the stairs (there are benches to rest as needed). There are glimpses of the bay on the walk up the stairs, but most impressive views are from Coit Tower at the top of Telegraph Hill. The Art Deco tower is simple on the outside, but decorated on the inside with vivid murals by several artists depicting scenes of daily life and ordinary citizens in the "social realism" style (these may be viewed for free). The elevator was broken when we visited, but the walk up the stairs was worth the effort: the top of the Tower features a magnificent 360-degree view of the city, bay, bridges, wharves and Alcatraz. There are bathrooms at the base of the tower and a somewhat tacky giftshop; in some seasons, there might be a refreshment stand outside; city buses drop off at the main entrance and Ubers are easy to arrange. If you only have 1-2 days in San Francisco, include this site on your itinerary!

Great views of the city and GGB. Lift not working though and think will be out of service for a while so be prepared for a lot of steps.

A beautiful Art Deco structure on Telegraph Hill. There's a short elevator ride fee to access the observation deck. The observation deck provides a breathtaking 360-degree view, encompassing the city skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay.

Free museum on the ground floor featuring murals depicting life in 1930s San Francisco This collection offers a fascinating social commentary created by local artists during the Great Depression.

Worth the walk or should I say climb to get to the park and to the top. The views from Coit Tower are amazing, the murals inside are a gem. There is also a quaint coffee kiosk in the park.

It’s a bit of a walk but the view is good.
You can catch a bus from fisherman’s wharf.
There was no lift working so it’s basically 13 flights.

I walked to Coit Tower from my hotel located on Nob Hill, which was a downhill walk until I reached the Tower with just a couple of steep street hill climbs to navigate.
The views from outside the Tower are stunning, but when inside everything was unobstructed.
The lift was broken when I visited so there are 234 steps up and back down again to consider.
The views were spectacular from the top of the Tower and one of the guides opened windows for me to take better shots. There is no roof at the top of the tower so if it rains unexpectedly, take a brolly.
The interior of the building contained some beautiful pastel murals, which depicted the city from the past.
It was well worth the $10 entrance fee and jolly good exercise for the day.

We are so glad we didn't pass this by! Even though the elevator wasn't working, the 234 steps to the top weren't THAT bad. Gorgeous views at the top.
