The Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center provides visitors and residents with the opportunity to learn about the natural and cultural resources of American Samoa and the associated National Marine Sanctuary. The state-of-the-art facility features educational exhibits and interactive learning tools to promote ocean awareness and encourage good marine stewardship. We almost missed this, and that would have been a loss. The small, but very helpful, staff at the ocean center gave us much and useful information (some of which was from the staff's personal experience) about bays and preserves and smaller islands. The center...More

Informative experience regarding the area formation and the cultural history of the area along with examples of the local marine wildlife. Not a lot of the show presentation but a lot of informative displays of the local area.

When we were there, there was some kind of conference going on, so we probably missed some displays. Also, they hold special events there occasionally, so ask. What we did see was a nice little display room with very interesting info about the marine life...More

The facility is well maintained, the staff is helpful, and the location is perfect with only a few minutes walk to the Fagatogo market and to the BOH and KVZK TV.

While the center provides an excellent presentation and some information on the ailing marine life in the Pacific Ocean and elsewhere, you can get this information elsewhere like online. If the center was actually a part of a bigger museum or attraction, then this would...More

Entrance is free. Movie is on a view from 360` Screen. For a cruise ship itinerary stop, a waste of 20 minutes. Expectation was to see local fish and corals. If it is there, we were not allowed to see it. Just saw some pictures...More

The cost for the sanctuary visit was minimal, maybe $5/pp. More like a donation. We also spent about half an hour at the Museum of Samoan Culture. A donation requested but not required. And we had lunch and a bottle of wine... More
