This is a perfect evening spot! Drive to the end of the Kepuhi Pl. road in the old Kaluakoi resort area where parking is ample (this is past the Ke Nani Kai condos). Start by watching skilled locals surf (8-10ft waves when we were there). Whales jumping out in the strait between Oahu and Molokai. Then watch waves crash and thunder. All while the sun was setting in a kaleidoscope of colors. Dreamy, scenic and romantic, just as it was 28 yrs ago on our first trip here, even tho the old resort is closed producing a tinge of bittersweetness. We also walked along the shoreline to the point to the north on the old golf course, and that too was a nice short walk yielding a different perspective. A group of ~10 folks all had their beach chairs pulled up for the scenery, which were fun to engage, and they knew what they were doing ;) The convenience store ("Da Store" on da map) in the old resort complex does have sodas, snacks and some food items along with souvenirs. The only caution is Kepuhi isn't a swimming beach in winter, as the churn, undertow and large waves crashing on jagged rocks are conducive to neither intact skin nor skulls!

Some of the nicest beaches on this side of Molokai require 4 wheel drive or hours of hiking. This beach, reminiscent of similar beaches in Wailea, Maui, has the need accoutrements of civilization (a store to buy drinks, parking, showers) while still beholden to the wild vagaries of Molokai waters. In the winter, only for experts. In any season, a great place to experience the green flash of sunset, with Oahu in the background.

This beach is gorgeous! When the wind picks up, the waves breaking against the rocks are mesmerizing! The first few days while watching the waves, all I could say was “wow” over & over again. Not many people lie on this beach to sun bathe, I don’t know why. It made my time here very nice. Many days I was the sole person there. As the sun starts to set more people arrive because it’s beautiful! I saw monk seals sunning themselves here, A must see! Also spotted some whales in the distance.

Most of the Hawaiian beaches that offer solitude are way off the beaten track. That puts visitors at a high risk of car break-ins. Not so at Kepuhi Beach. There's a relatively small rental condo building behind it. Park near, but don't trespass. Then, you'll have a long walk across an old golf course fairway to the beach. You can see the entire beach from your car.
This is not always a good swimming beach. It's a walking and loafing beach. Stay out of the water if the surf's up and you're not on a board. If snorkeling is your thing be careful of the undertows and offshore currents by the rocky points. Pick-up a picnic lunch, and take whatever you want to drink. And don't try to carry one of those cheap foam coolers. They disintegrate!

quiet, uncrowed. If there is someone else there, it is unusual. The sunsets are exceptional. At night, you can see the lights of Oahu.

We saw Kepuhi Beach from both ends, the hotel or condo end, and the other end quite some distance from the buildings, by Kai Aka Rock. We spent the most time by the Kai Aka end, and loved it. This area is super scenic, the beach sand is lovely, and the geological features are excellent as well. There is even paved parking nearby with stone steps and a short path to the beach. This parking area is at the end of the paved road.
Kai Aka Rock rises straight from the water on this side. You can see bird nests. Lava rocks form kind of like an oriental rock garden in one area. Very nearby, surf breaks dramatically on the lava rocks. The lava has fantastically shapes. Again nearby is another rock area more like a ledge. The bright green of plants really stands out against the black of the lava.
We did not swim here, but relaxed here, in a place of beauty and serenity.

Great beach. You almost always have it to yourself. Great sunsets. Sand is coming back. It's rare, but when the ocean is calm the snorkeling is awesome here. Not a great snorkeling or swimming beach otherwise when rough and can have strong undertow and currents. We watched a woman go to sea on her paddleboard only to be rescued by the Coast Guard later that evening while staying at Kepuhi Beach Resort.

Molokai is paradise! Stayed in an ocean-view condo at Kepuhi Beach resort.
Loved the landscape, beaches, hiking trails, people, small-town feel of this island!
Food was a little expensive but worth it for the quiet, slow-moving, peaceful, sunny holiday I had.

My family and I spent 5 days on Molokai, and the beach was a short walk away. It's quite lovely - wide beach, white sand - and very empty. At most I saw five people, which is probably due to the fact that the Kaluakoi Hotel is empty right now.
The beach is a short walk from the parking lot, and the general store in the Kaluakoi Hotel is open so you can buy drinks there.
Definitely go - oh, and we saw whale spouts off in the distance, so that was pretty cool, too!

Is there anywhere to get food/drink or a grocery store? Or is everything miles away? I won’t have a car. Thanks.
