Murphys Beach is also referred to as 20 mile beach, as it sits at the 20 mile marker on the road. Beach area is protected by the fringe reef so there is no big surf here. There is shade, sand is nice, and it’s really easy to park right up next to where you want to sit. This is not a beach to boogie board, swim, or surf. Very shallow with rocks and coral. Generally ther is enough sand in the water to get out about thigh deep and take a dip to cool off. Surprisingly there are few people here as it’s one of the easier beaches to access on Molokai. Water clarity is clear and if you are okay with coral and rocks 12-13 “ under you while snorkeling, it’s fair. Most people say snorkeling in the wintertime on Molokai isn’t very good because of the winter swell and I totally agree.

“Twenty-mile beach is a local hang on the way out to Halawa Valley, with a nice spread of sand and some decent coral in spots. But the water is murky cause of heavy wave action and agricultural run off, so the snorkeling cannot be compared even to Maui’s. It is a nice place to relax and take a dip, but you won’t have it to yourself.

Also known as Mile Marker 20 Beach on the east side, this is really the only safe place to snorkel in the winter on Moloka'i. Make sure to bring your own gear, as I didn't notice any place to rent snorkels or fins. There is an area protected by rocks on the east end of the beach-- That's where we saw the most coral and fish. When I tried to venture towards the center, the water got choppier and fish were fewer. We saw a fair amount of people here, but it wasn't crowded, which was nice. No lifeguard, so always be careful.

This is my favorite beach to visit! Beautiful water and turns out a great snorkeling spot on sunny days. Kids will do great snorkeling here as the water is shallow. My grandson played on the shore for hours, it’s a bay so no crashing waves. The color of the water is breathtaking!

Great beach, but water shoes recommend. The water is almost completely covered in coral and is only 2-3’ deep quite far out. Once you get out a bit you can snorkel and see some fish but it is still very shallow. Wish I could have spent longer there.

This was the beach recommended on a discussion on a trip advisor regarding the best place to snorkel. I was so diapointed. Most of the coral has been bleached and only few very tiny fish are still here. The beach is very nice and empty.

This picturesque beach at mile marker 20 on the road east of Kaunakakai is a great place to relax all day long. It gets a bit crowded on the weekends/holidays as it's popular with locals and the few tourists who drive all the way out there, but during the week you might have it to yourself. The beach itself is fairly narrow, unlike the broad beaches on the west side of Molokai, and this aspect and the dearth of parking are the only significant detractions. The water is very swimmable (no waves to speak of), and there is a nearby reef for scuba/snorkeling activity, though we've been advised there is a rip current near the reef, so if you're interested in that activity it's best to check with a local (the folks at Molokai Dive Shop are one great option). The views across the water of West Maui are spectacular, especially early or late in the day. There are zero services in the immediate vicinity, so you'll want to bring food and drink if you're planning to stay a while.

This beach had a small patch of dry sand, a pocket square of shade and some nice snorkeling. It was quite enjoyable until a largish group showed up, which pretty much trampled whatever serenity was available. It is right at Mile 20.

This is definitely my favorite Beach! The water is shallow with a ton of coral so water shoes are a necessity. Beautiful views and shaded areas.

As far as beaches go it isn't the greatest, but the snorkeling is pretty good. I have seen all kinds of fish here, a massive moray eel, octopus, and some good looking coral. Right off the road at mile marker 20...you can't miss it. Every time I have gone here, the water has been crystal clear.
