We had thought this would be a much bigger botanical garden. You can walk thru it in about 15-20 minues. Nonetheless, its free, so if you are close by or going to Iao Monument, its worth checking out.

This was a beautiful garden on the road into Iao Valley. Unfortunately it closed about two years ago.

This is a lovely place to go for all ages, make sure to take the tram for the tour, and see how coconuts are opened, hear and see the various plants that are raised here, and some of the history behind it.

This is a wonderful stop on your way into Iao Valley. Unfortunately, the owners decided to close it and put it up for sale. I hope someone purchases it and reopens this great Maui attraction.

We visited the Tropical Gardens in 2011. Wonderful, loved them. Since then we tried in 2014 and 2015 to go again but they were closed, with a For Sale sign. Hope they are open again and we can visit this September. Had orchids sent home which were packed great and have bloomed many times.

Clean and well maintained. We ate lunch at one of the covered picnic tables which were very clean. Lots of space for different groups.

This must have been beautiful at some time but it is run down and disappointing if you are looking for a pleasant walk.

The grounds here are huge and well landscaped and maintained. Admission was free, but if you wanted to ride the tram and get the guided tour, there was a fee of $16.50. It lasted about 50 minutes and was interesting and informative. Our guide did a great job explaining about the different plants and what they're used for---like how hula skirts are made from Ti leaves and how to open up coconuts. They also have ziplines and giftshops here. We did wander around the gift shop, but passed on the ziplines. We did enjoy wandering around the grounds. They have a bunch of old sugar cane plantation equipment now being used in the landscaping. It was an interesting way to spend a couple hours.
