Nice Break from the Beach with a 1 Year Old
Sep 2021 • Family
We experienced a great tour at the Maui Tropical Plantation! For a fair price, we were treated to a nice leisure tour of the grounds. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and easily rescheduled us because we were too late to meet our originally scheduled time. Not only was the guide knowledgeable, but he made the tour fun by adding humor and jokes. We also enjoyed the store that had a lot of unique souvenirs and produce that you wouldn't commonly find. We were also very happy to drink coconut juice out of a fresh coconut and chocolate covered bananas after our tour, from the store.

I would advise this tour for families with children ages 1-2, but for older children, they may get restless on the tour. During our next trip, we may come back to just visit the store or eat at the restaurant on site.

Very expensive like most things, but it was nice. Beautiful place and very informative guide. Recommend as this was the least expensive tour.

We had a great time. The kids enjoyed the coconut demonstration! The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed eating at the on site restaurant!

Great fun!

The tour was amazing for many reasons but particularly the education it provides. Traveling with a first time visitor, he was intrigued and enlightened the entire ride.

Everyone there was very welcoming and knowledgable! We only went on the tour but we have recommended it to our friends at home! One of our friends actually recommended it to us and we are glad we went!

Great Experience!
Aug 2021
The plantation tour was great. Our tour guide was very informative and fun. Showed us how to husk a coconut which was pretty cool. There is a wonderful variety of fruits and nut trees on the property. The longhorn cattle were fun to pet and feed leaves to. Also, I loved being able to have such a great view of the "sleeping giant" of Maui. I also had a great lunch at the restaurant onsite, Cafe O'Lei, all of the staff were just super and attentive.

TOURIST TRAP
Aug 2021
A total and 100% waste of time and money.

After loading the tram our tour began, with no introduction, with an odd speech from a guy who was selling jewelry & candy in the waiting area. He professed that swimming in fresh water would remove radiation from our bodies, and rambled about his life philosophy & religious views.

Then a friendly guide drove us around (very slowly) for what felt like 10 minutes, checking his watch a lot and stopping in the middle to demonstrate how to open a coconut, but mostly delivering a not always audible canned spiel that didn't even cover naming all the fruit plants we pass.

Just way too little information or entertainment for WAY to high a ticket price. A total tourist trap. AVOID.

Tram tour and dinner
Aug 2021
We have enjoyed taking the plantation tram tour and dining at the restaurant-with a very small group of relatives or friends- for a few years now. Having missed our trip in 2020 due to Covid lockdown, we were thrilled to return in August, this time with a family group of 14.

The tram tour was as usual informative, lovely, and relaxing. I did wish that the amiable and well-informed guide could have spoke up louder (he spoke very fast, and had no microphone during the coconut demonstration and it was very difficult to hear him then and even while sitting on the tram.

Later all 14 of us dined in the restaurant. THe cuisine and the service is just as excellent as we remembered and all of us had a wonderful delightful dinner. We wish we could have had more time during our stay to return several times.

Perhaps on our next trip in 2022, ancestors willing.

Thank you very very much, all of you at Maui Tropical Plantation. May all you and your ohanas remain safe and well.

Plantation Fun
Aug 2021 • Family
We were looking forward to sharing the Plantation with our family from Ohio. Sorry to say the tram ride was so short with not much to see. A little disappointing compared to the past, HOWEVER, MY GRANDKIDS WERE THRILLED WITH THE DUCKS AND BIRDS SURROUNDING THE POND AND THE GARDENS WERE A HIT. COVID hits again. It was a nice afternoon.
