beautiful views and decent exercise
Jun 2021
you can make this leisurely or make it a workout. the views all along the way are great. you will likely see sea turtles along the way also. parts are sand, gravel, and as you get closer to the Ritz property there is a boardwalk that turns into a paved path. I walked this- less than 2 miles from Napili Kai to Fleming Beach and also ran it which was challenging. I did it 3 days in a row and never once grew tired of it.

Spectacular views.

You will enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean and rocky coast line. The trail is about 1.75 miles long and you can pick up a map if needed but you really can't get lost. It's not a difficult trail necessarily but anyone that is mobility impaired should avoid - or at least the rocky area. A warning is posted at the beginning of that part of the trail.

Difficult

The hike is not easy. There are other easy hikes. Please go to other places for hike. This is real difficult.

On a very windy day, we walked out to the point and back; very nice walk, great vistas of the ocean and the coast.

Beautiful Drive
May 2021
We were told to take a drive up there by one of our guides at one of the adventures we went on. Make sure you go to the place where there is a local guy selling banana bread, Lilikoi butter and guava jam! The views are breathtaking...I think the best on the island.

Pleasant trail but not for strollers and wheelchairs
Apr 2021
The scenic Kapalua Coastal Trail stretches from Kapalua Bay up to D.T. Fleming Beach (north of the Ritz Carlton). Wear sturdy shoes to negotiate the trail which consists of pavement, lava rocks, dirt, gravel, wooden boardwalks, sand, and stairs. Bring plenty of water and wear a hat - most of the 1.75 mile (one-way) trail is exposed and without shade. This trail is not friendly to wheelchairs and strollers. We saw a young family with a toddler and baby. The toddler ran ahead of her parents and tripped on some rocks and the parents were unable to wheel the stroller on the uneven trail. Their hike was short-lived.

Private/Public

There are private resorts on this trail. Security at those resorts will shout at you. Why a trail is in both private and public parts, we do not understand.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes

What a beautiful walk along the coast. In some places it is very rocky, and you feel like you could be walking on the moon---except the ocean is right there. Not a difficult walk, but glad we were not wearing flip-flops

Keep an eye out for the shoreline along the rocks for turtles!
Apr 2021
Easy trail along the coastline here - just be aware it abuts private property from the Montage so make sure you stick to the trail. In total it should take about two hours, depending on how much time you want to spend in the wildlife sanctuary there. We saw green sea turtles having lunch along the rock faces so it naturally took a LOT longer than we expected.

Wild and beautiful
Apr 2021 • Friends
Wild, rocky coastal trail, with amazing views and thundering surf. I couldn't walk to the maze because of mobility issues, but the others in my group found it beautiful. Simply a gorgeous area of the coast.
