I inadvertently put this on the main Kealia NWR but we only stopped at the boardwalk so I'm reposting my review here since it's specific to the boardwalk. Went for a walk on the boardwalk where we saw stilts and other birds. The signs explained...More

We loved watching the black-crowned night herons, Hawaiian stilts, wandering tattlers, and Hawaiian coots in the marshy area along the boardwalk.

Part of the National Wildlife Refuge, this walk affords you the opportunity to walk above the wetlands and see the fish and fowl that are native to the area. There is limited parking at the boardwalk, but further up the road there is ample parking...More

We only had a few minutes to explore before dark but the setting is absolutely peaceful and scenic. We saw some white water birds. I want to go back when I have some time and it's day light. Could definitely spend an hour or more

We're not birders by any means, but appreciate nature and my daughter and I really enjoyed taking a little time out of our trip to stop and walk the boardwalk. We spotted a number of interesting birds that we wouldn't have seen on our trip...More

We enjoy the walk. I was able to take many pictures of birds. Parking is limited but there is parking on the side of the road.

Enjoyed this. We only had a brief stop but we still saw a number of aquatic birds wading around. It was twilight which may have made a difference. We've been coming to Maui for 40 years and we think the boardwalk makes a nice addition...More
