During our 9 day Kauai vacation, we snorkeled at 3 locations and this was the best place for seeing many fish with a fairly good variety. In the building next to the beach, there is a snorkel equipment rental shop which was very handy. The...More

Great crescent but the whole week we’ve been here there’s little sand area to relax and enough swells to make water entry difficult. This isn’t a beach for the kids but is very popular with local surfers and is popular with snorkelers. The extremely rocky...More

Lawa'i Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches in Kauai. The beach is very small and there is one small entrance point (straight line out from Shave Ice Stand) where one can avoid the coral and rocks to enter the water. We saw a...More

We saw lots of fish and a sea turtle! The waves can get pretty big a bit offshore so watch where you swim/float. Rentals for snorkel gear etc are at Boss Frog in the building right next to the beach. It was $20 for 24...More

This is not really much of a beach. there is a tiny bit of sand to the left of some very good snorkeling. We stayed near here and the conditions can get very rough and unpleasant because the bottom is all rocks. That said if...More

No matter rain or sunshine this beach is great for snorkeling. Limited parking along the shore so come earlier with all snorkeling gear. The earlier the better - more fish, better visibility, less crowd. I noticed that most people are putting fins first then walk...More

Nice Inlet area mostly for tanning or snorkeling. Several were either snorkeling or surfing (when waves were up). Seemed like you could not predict the waves either. The bottom is very rough so if you decide to swim from shore you better wear water shoes....More

Snorkeling at Lawai Beach is free, open to the public, directly accessible from the street. Besides snorkeling, many people bring wine/snacks to enjoy the sunset on the small terraced lawn space bordering the cove. Enjoy!
