Visible from miles away as you drive to the White Mountain Petroglyphs, we drove a less well maintained route to get a closer view. Time constraints prevented our reaching the base itself, but we seemed to see a path up the base from the "back"...More

Not a lot to see up close that you cant see at a distance. Still, if you are going to see the Petrglyphs, or the Sand Dunes, you might as well drive closer or get out and climb around. Not as big as Devil's Tower,...More

I like it. You can make beautiful photos there. Wild nature. Very few visitors. Fun! I went with the child for 4,8 years. I do not recommend taking small children. ))

If you have a 4-wheel drive truck, it's fine, but otherwise the roads are really rough to negotiate. We didn't bother.

Hikeable, offering great views early and late, of the surrounding dunes and high desert areas. Usually a great deal of wildlife in the area, An easy climb to the saddle gets you higher than you expected. The USGS found this ancient volcanic stack has minable...More

Don't be fooled by how far away this place is. Even in the distance of the highway, you can see an image of this massive formation. It is not until you decide to the take the dirt road towards it that it finally comes into...More

Very rough dirt, gravel road. It had rained the night before, but we were able to do in regular cargo van. If you have seen Devil's Tower, or Chimney Rock natl monument, you can skip this.

It is a single, narrow sandy road to this unusual feature. Locals say don't even try it if it has rained lately. The remains of a volcano cone is the Tusk itself. There is a loop around the Tusk so you can view it from all...More
