Am so glad that Kelsey @ the Visitor Center in Green River recommended doing this. Amazing views and scenery. The first hour is sort of dull, but as you get closer and closer to the mountains, the scenery is amazing. And once you get to...More

Stunning loop. Give yourself more than 3 hrs. Don't miss Red Canyon overlook (take the turn-off to Red Canyon Visitors' Centre, or the Red Canyon Lodge). Take a more detailed map then what the visitors' centre provides, especially if you plan to do the Sheep...More

This trip has spectacular red cliffs surrounding the lake which ends up at the dam. The dam has an interesting tour center. Just north of Dutch John near the Wyoming Utah border there is a little used road which goes to Brown's Park which is...More

Great scenic drive - ended up being about a 3 hr detour for us (we were heading westbound on I-80) as we stopped to take in sights at vistas and for pictures. The first Flaming Gorge overlook has a usual map that came in handy...More

The gorge was pretty. I would recommend it for someone headed to Dinosaur National Park, but I would not make a special trip to visit it.

From dense pine forest at high elevations to the desert cliffs around the reservoir itself, this is one of the prettiest drives in the country. There are plenty of side roads to explore and a few places to get out and explore by foot too.

One of the prettiest drives in southwest Wyoming/northeastern Utah, the Gorge Loop offers spectacular scenery, outstanding wildlife (even those of us "jaded" to them nearly run off the road when 24 elk cows and calves run across the highway), stunning geology, and an almost surreal...More

We drove the scenic route, highway 191, Flaming Gorge. The drive is scenic with interesting natural features - at times appearing quite desolate. We also stopped at the red rock visitor center.
