Imagine Walking Where the Covered Wagons Crossed Wyoming
Sep 2021
Very interesting to see the covered wagon trail ruts still there. It is a bit of a walk uphill on the path and uneven walking near the ruts. Worth finding the ruts and seeing how deep they are in the rock.

Ruts are just a 1/4 mile on the south side of town near the school. Amazing how they are preserved and that the pioneers took the route over the rocks.

Quick stop
Aug 2021 • Couples
This is worth stopping for for a quick stretch of your legs and to see a neat historic site. You walk a paved path that does have an upward slope/steps. But it’s a short walk and really cool to see the trail ruts. Amazing to think how many folks traveled through to make them. The 90s kid in me loved this.

Oregon Trail Stop

This was so awesome. After all these years you can still see the ruts from thousands of wagons that passed through this place. You can walk in the ruts and imagine how it would be. This place is free to visit and is a must see for anyone interested in the history of the Oregon Trail!

May Trip

Short walk to the ruts. It is hard to imagine how difficult it must have been to cause such deep ruts. You can touch the history. It was a special experience to be there. A must see place. Went in early May and had the place to ourselves. It was a great feeling.

If you are interested in history, this is a must see. The ruts are easy to find and very accessible . It’s amazing to be able to see history close up. There are narratives along the walkway.

NEED TO BURN OFF SOME LBS -GREAT LITTLE BIT OF EXERCISE

These are very interesting and not what I had expected. They are much deeper and really give you a sense of how hard areas of this trail were. It is a great experience to just stand in a rut and dream of what the Pioneers went thru. This is a great stop for both young and old. Be sure and take some water with you as it gets hot and you are out of town.

My wife and I stopped on our way to Ft. Laramie. A nice piece of history and a nice place to walk and stretch your legs.

Cool Place
Aug 2020
It's a short (75 yards) up hill hike to see the Oregon Trail Ruts. If you like history and getting some fresh air this is the place for you. If you appreciate the efforts our forefathers went through to get to their promised land in a covered wagon, while grinding down rock in the middle of nowhere, you will like this place. You can walk right on the ruts. It is pretty amazing.

Found it interesting that this was only monumented in 1966! Had no one cared until then?

There are hiking trails along the ruts and you can walk the ruts also. Some historical signs to read along the way give an idea who, how, and why the trail was used.

Pit toilets only with no way to wash hands. Plan ahead.
