Small town, nice park
Aug 2019
This was a very nice park for a walk after a long day of driving the Flaming River Gorge Loop, and when we visited, families, dog walkers and skate boarders were taking full advantage of the grassy expanses along two forks of the Green River. We came across a pair of deer who seemed very much at home there. Very tranquil.

Perfect for Families, Photos, and Fun!
Jul 2018 • Family
If you want to have a family gathering, take engagement photos, or attend a community festival, this park has it all. We have enjoyed coming here for all of the above. The character of the park includes:
-A Beautiful steel bridge
-Lamp posts (fun for photo ops)
-Riverbanks surrounding the island
-Walking path
-Quaint benches
-Picnic table areas
-Playground
-Large established shade trees (you could climb in them)
-Various natural rocks
- Bike Trail
-Fishing
-Pavilion

These are great factors when considering a family gathering and/or photo opportunity. But honestly, its just a beautiful place to relax, let the kids play, and enjoy this scenic and historic area.

Beauty and History in one place!
May 2019 • Couples
We'd been learning about John Wesley Powell and his incredible feats and adventures on the Colorado, and were very excited to visit the spot from which he launched his first expedition. Beautiful park, bridge, trails, benches to sit and watch the river. Bike trail and paved walking path. One could make a day of it here with a picnic and lengthy walk.

Great place to relax in Green River
May 2019 • Couples
The City of Green River is to be applauded for the Exploration Island Park. There is so much history to read in the park, it's a quiet and peaceful place to sit by the river, there is amazing river access and you can fish right there. The people bridge across the river leads to the pathway that follows the Green River for quite some time. While on it we saw deer, geese, a hawk, and bald eagles.

Best park in the area
Jan 2019 • Family
Park for free and walk the grounds under the shaded trees or cross the steel bridge over the historic green river. Great place to go kayaking or simply walk the dog. Lots of space for a picnic too!

Nice place to picnic
Jun 2018 • Friends
Family park in the middle of the river. Accessible by car and by foot. Trees, walking path, historical and nature markers. Great views of the river. Some wading. Kayaking rapids available. Just a lovely spot for a break. Where Park is nearby for kids with a splash pad in the summer.

Quiet place with trees, river, benches and walking path
May 2018 • Friends
If you're looking for a quiet place to spend forty-five minutes, this is a lovely spot... there are nice views of the river, walking paths, benches and even historical markers... Folks are jogging, walking their dogs, watching their kids in the playground, having picnics... Clean restrooms are a plus... A good spot for a little down time.

Nice hidden park
Oct 2018 • Business
Expedition Island is a great break from the tiny amount of traffic in Green River. It takes a little bit of searching to find. A smart phone is really helpful for this. The park is quite sizable and is surrounded by the river which splits around. People come to here to walk the loop path. Some bring dogs or other random pets. The historical markers make the first time visit even more interesting.
