Old Town Trail

I absolutely loved this place! Wished I had on my primitive clothing to fit right in course then I may not have left! I loved the originalness to the place and found it exciting to hear about how Wild Bill Hiccock, Clamity Jane, Butch Cassidy, The Sundance Kid, Cattle Kate were all once here at one time or another. The day I went it wasn't crowded at all so I had the whole place almost to myself! That was great since I love photography. I was told normally there are volunteers who come and "live" out the place making it more alive with reinactment shows and entertainment. Port -o- lets and wheelchair accessible ones are available for public use. Price was well worth the experience.

Great view into Western history

I love history and this place was great! The collection of log cabins from around the West was impressive and I loved the story that went with each house. Several graves of western pioneers, bandits, and legends are also on the grounds. Definitely worth spending a couple of hours here!

Don’t be put off by first impression

At first sight we were taken aback by the ricketiness of the place, especially after being to the Buffalo Bill Museum. But once we started touring, the history came alive. It would not have been as effective with pristine buildings and areas. With the wind blowing and the barrenness of the surroundings, one felt transported back in time. We really appreciated the history behind this outdoor museum. Our only request would be to renew the signs by the graves and in the buildings. They were old and very hard to read.

We stopped here on the way through Cody, didn't know what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised. Lots of very interesting artifacts and cabins. Nice to see this stuff preserved. It is nice that you can wander at your own pace, fairly inexpensive. The hosts were very knowledgeable and friendly. This was a good experience.

The collection of cabins and artifacts at Old trail town are a great view into life in the old west. Be sure to see the plains Indians artifacts, the livery stable with different kinds of covered wagons and carriages, and the Saloon settings.

It sounded like a good idea to see the old west. But it was essentially just similar buildings with similar stuff inside of them. We got it as a part of the Cody Cattle Company bundle. But I would not bundle it was certainly in my mind not worth $9 each! And in some ways it was really cool. So if that's your thing go for it

Very interesting

Lots of original buildings moved from places around Wyoming and Montana. A lot of work has been put into preserving these buildings. The host gave us a great overview of the buildings and grounds when he gave us our map. If short on time Cody this is a great place to visit if you only have a few hours.

Excellent replica of how people lived in the west in the 1800's. Nicely laid out, easy walk with descriptions on each building.

Worth the visit!

We went to Old Trail Town & Museum of the Old West. It cost $10pp. We loved it, we spent about an hour and a half there.
The staff were very welcoming & informative.
The buildings have been moved to their current site. It was interesting to see one of the buildings being ‘rebuilt’, every log had a location & number marked on it.
It was well worth the visit!
