This library is good, but could be GREAT if the librarians would enforce some common rules for the myriad unaccompanied children that are allowed to run wild. The adult areas are well-kept, and the staffers in all areas were friendly and helpful! The building is...More

This library has every possible service available a library should have, and a little park to sit outside for a picnic. They even have a statue of one of MY homeboys, Ben Franklin, to welcome you. Had I been in town on 2/5/18, I wouldve...More

I grew up here and have to admit I never once visited. Now being back here visiting I decided to take the kids and we spent four hours reading books and exploring the children's area. We happened upon a story hour and activity session and...More

This lives was built when Milwaukee was very rich and it shows. The inside is incredibly opulent and if you're in the area it's well worth a visit at least to the entrance hall.

Note that I am writing this from a tourist perspective, not using the library as an information source. It is your standard big city library. It does have boat models, which encompass a small portion of the library. The employees were very cordial, helpful in...More

This historic building houses everything your family will ever need from a library, including a very expansive children's section: being there makes the children appreciate the idea of a library itself. Just around the corner from the Milwaukee Public Museum (a real treat of an...More

There is nothing better than taking a walk through this library and just picking up a random book. The shelves are filled with opportunities to learn about a new subject. I love the kids area and their story times are top notch for little kids.

The lobby itself is stunning. Everything is clean and neat. Childrens Area is very welcoming. Has a puppet center and charming lighthouse that you can climb inside to the top. There is an area for microfilms and it is all organized and filed. Finding things...More

Just happened upon this lovely library; the entryway is grand, old-style. Didn't go into the main part of the library, but checked out the cafe/book sale area. Friendly, helpful ladies, and it was warm (on a very cold walk in downtown Milwaukee)!
