The museum is open daily and free to visit. The lighthouse is open on certain days and costs a small donation. Has a lot of information about the local area and its naval history.

Although the lighthouse isn't functioning any more, a visitor can get a good understanding of the role great lakes lighthouses still play. The exhibits are interesting, and climbing the spiral metal stairs to the top of the lighthouse leads to a beautiful view of Lake...More

The highlight of this stop is definitely the opportunity to climb the lighthouse, but the informative exhibit is worth taking the time to go through as well. The volunteer keeper was extremely knowledgeable, not only about this particular light station, but also was able to...More

We did not tour it , but walked the grounds. Beautiful area and plenty to do in the immediate area. We did have a little trouble getting to the lighthouse. Couldn't find the road to it.

Sadly, even upon our 10 year return, once again the timing wasn't right for the museum itself to be open. However, love the place and the island surroundings it's on. Worth a look and even better if you can make it when the museum is...More

The lighthouse and the museum are very close together. Easy to find. There is not a parking lot per say but you can park on the street in front. It is located on somewhat of a hill that overlooks Lake Michigan. There are trees and...More

A bit of history as well as a very well kept buildings with Lake Michigan as the backdrop await you. Park your car, enjoy the visit and go for a walk. :-)

Even without the guided tour of the lighthouse we found it educational--all the buildings have signs describing their function and history.

If you are into lighthouses, this is must visit. You get local history and what it was like way back in the past. If so desired, you can climb the steps in the lighthouse.
