Parnell tower is really nice. You are up high enough to see out for miles. Then hiking on the smaller loop is really great. The hike is an intermediate hike. There are grades up and down throughout the hike. Not really that difficult. The smaller...More

If you are looking for a great view of the Kettle Moraine State Forest at the north end, take a walk up Parnell Tower. Great view! Then for an adventurous hike, do the loop. 3 1/2 miles. Don't forget the bug spray!

On several of the "cooler" trails the state has allowed some significant cutting. Parnell Loop and Butler Lake are seeing some significant foresting. These forests won't look the same for many years. I'm sure that other areas will also be seeing some cutting. I've heard...More

We brought our dog to this beautiful state park, but it is not as dog friendly as others. Only some of the trails allow dogs. We thought the dogs prohibited signs were meant for the grass and beach, but also applied to the trails near...More

This is the best trail system in the State. The Ice Age Trail connects to the Kettle Moraine Trail, you could walk the entire State this way. The best time to visit is the fall when all the leaves are in full color.

We did the Parnell Tower loop trail. It's a lot of up and down so it was a good work-out. The tower has some great views.

Long Lake is a very pretty area. From the campground, you can hike "Dundee Mountain" as we call it. On the other side of the lake (head south on Division Road, turn right on F) is Dundee, WI. There is a neat little burger... More
