Absolutely love the little markets and fairs that are thrown here in the fall, winter, spring, and summer!! This park also has very beautiful views of the Spokane river with the Gondolas that run across the big waterfall! My girlfriend and I loved how centrally located it is and it is just a wonderful place! The pavilion is also very beautiful for sunset watching and it lights up at night!! You MUST see this park!!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 16, 2024

- Cello12345Urbana, Illinois819 contributionsSpokane's Crown JewelThis park is essentially on an island in the Spokane River - created from a former industrial space for the 1974 World's Fair. It includes lovely views of the falls in the river, many bridges, a couple of playgrounds, a carousel, clock tower, innovative sculptures (look up the red wagon and the garbage goat!) and the reimagined pavilion. Make sure to see the pavilion lit up at night! The park makes a great way to get from one side of the river to the other, from meeting space to restaurants, etc.Visited August 2024Traveled on businessWritten September 6, 2024

Was wonderfully surprised at what a beautiful area this was in downtown Spokane. It seemed like there were playgrounds and splash pads around every corner. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there were families everywhere.
Make sure you seek out the Garbage Goat. What a fun idea and probably the cleanest area around.
We skipped the gondola as $12.95 for 15 minutes seemed a bit extreme. As other have mentioned, it does stop a lot to load and unload passengers. I felt walking down to below the falls was much better anyways and gave you a great view. Plenty of restaurants around and shopping is only a block or two away. Glad we spent a half of day touring the area.

I was really impressed by this park. Best playground I've ever seen. We walked for two hours and it felt like thirty minutes. We still didn't see everything it had to offer. There was an area that had a lot of trash by the river, right underneath some art on the wall that must have cost a lot. Seems they would want to spend some of the budget cleaning that up or the art is just wasted. Also, you can't really access the river so our dog was hot and had nothing to drink. They make water fountains for humans that have a button and craft down low to water the dogs as well. I wish they would install some of those.

Take your time exploring the old world's fair grounds as the city is always improving it's parks, especially Riverfront. Come dine, skate, bike, take a gondola ride over the falls, ride the Roof Carousel, run through the Rotary fountain, and shopping is just around the corner! Riverfront offers something for everyone. It's clean, safe and Spokane's GEM!

This was for the experience on 9/4/2022. If things change in 2023 then great but I do not expect they will without massive updates and restructuring of the event.
I have gone to this fun local event 5 different times before the pandemic, starting back in 2009 when I was in college. Before the venue was larger, there was seating for almost anyone that wanted to sit on a standard fold-up picnic table, the food was decent and affordable and the music area was big enough to house a large crowd.
Jump to 2022.
The prices for food was ridiculous: $24 dollar turkey leg (for one), $22 BBQ sammies, $18-$20 fries/onion rings, $6 water! I spent $72 on a meal for 3 people with tax and no drinks. This was under $40 for three people in 2018. I get inflation upped the price but it should not have increased almost 100%. I ate better for less money at Sandpoint in a nice restaurant outdoor seating and including drinks for $10 bucks more. This is suppose to be an affordable event for everyone to come, not something I need to see if I can afford it vs going to a nice restaurant or a ballgame and have some food there.
The music was not very loud and the area to watch the performers was extremely small. There was only seating if you wanted to pay to get into the beer garden otherwise you had to sit on the hill which was at an awkward angel that faced the venue from the side (not the front).
In short, this was an overpriced event with poor planning and subpar food and music. I really hope next year will show improvement otherwise this is something you can put your time and money elsewhere for something better like Hoopfest or a Spokane Arena event. Its a shame too considering all the money they put to update the Riverfront Park.

This area has gone downhill since the last time I visited. I would warn against women going here alone, especially after dark. This should be Spokane's biggest gem, but the druggies are bring it down.

There are not a lot of interesting things to do in Spokane but this is one of the most central and highly rated ones, so we got an Airbnb nearby and went to the park on two different days.
A lot of the main attractions for small kids are fairly close together on the south end. We saw the trash goat (quick 30 seconds of entertainment) and rode the giant Radio Flyer slide. We rode the Looff Carrousel once. It's nice but nothing crazy! We played in the Rotary Fountain for a whole minute before we went back to the Ice Age Floods Splash Pad (a little bit of a walk but not horrible). Our kids really enjoyed the splash pad so we spent the most time there.
Walking around, there are plenty of fun birds, geese and ducks to watch.
I don't know if they're normally there but we saw two different shaved ice trucks in the park.
We didn't need it but it was cool to see bike repair stations here and there within the park. There were a lot of people riding bikes so I imagine those come in handy here and there.
We experienced a couple cons while we were there. The first is simply that this park is virtually all cement. There's no good place for kids to run around in the grass. I don't associate the word 'park' with some place that doesn't have that. It reminds me of the lyrics 'paved paradise and put up a parking lot.' The second con was that the Rotary Fountain is intense. It's a great feature but kids were mostly skirting it and getting sprayed on, versus actually running under it, because it looked like it could take people out. The last con was just simply that the gondola was not running while we were there but I'm sure it will be up again at some point. We never felt unsafe in the park but there were a handful of homeless people, mainly by the water, we saw.

Spokane has done a lovely job designing a park for citizens.
We enjoyed walking a loop around the upper and lower falls and really enjoyed the Native American sculptures and tributes to wildlife.
This park is a tribute to great urban planning and Spokane should be proud of their focus and investment here along the River.

Excellent experience at Riverfront park. The sites were beautiful and for the most part you can go there for free. There is a fee for parking. The sky ride trip was a must do there is a small fee per person but great experience. There are many electric scooters/bikes you can rent around the park. Many fun things for kids of all ages to do.

I really enjoyed the running/ biking trails all over the park! There were also plenty of sculptures and other unique art pieces that made the scenery even more enjoyable. The park itself is pretty clean and peaceful. Definitely my favorite part of the city!

Quite a few things to see and do with family or friends. Access to the skate ribbon (winter), skyride, carousel, the big red wagon, and kids areas. A lot of places to sit and picnic or if you prefer walking and jogging, quite a few routes to take. There were a few musicians playing at the front of the park so it added to the atmosphere. It would be nice if there were more benches in shady areas, picnic tables, or add “you are here” tabs on the maps around the park.

I would suggest the convention center lot north of the park. On street parking is harder to find than usual. There is extensive remodeling of the park near the mall parking garage. This involves the west side of the park. The east side of the park is open and a large area.

It's a question that the city of Spokane can't answer as of yet, hope they come up with a solid plan that makes good use of the area.

Do you have to pay to walk the park? i saw a flier that said $22 per person, is that right?
Written May 31, 2016
No you do not need to pay to walk the River front park! If you want to take part in any of the activities they have to offer you will need to pay for that.

I want to find a parking lot fairly close to the Gathering at the Falls PowWow. I want to attend the 1:00 p.m. Grand Entry and I assume there will be traffic control in the area. I'm a Senior, but not disabled, so I need a lot that is close enough to walk from.

Yes, the parking lot by the mall is the easiest solution to Downtown's parking problem[s].

I would like to attend the Pow Wow in two weeks, but have no idea where to park my car. Where are lots to park in that area and would there be shuttle buses from any of them? Thanx, Leigh Schaefer

There is a very reasonable parking lot at a Sushi place right across the street from the Park ! Lots of parking all around the Park down town. I am sure you will not have a problem finding Parking close by the park.
