Our family travels to the historic triangle about 3 times per year and there are other ways for us to get there, but this is the best way to get there, it's always the part of the trip that we feel like the vacation finally...More

We were staying in Williamsburg and wanted to go to Smithfield. Someone had told us in the past to take the ferry bc it is free and just cool. We pulled our car on, had no issues and were allowed to exit our vehicles to...More

Want a little different way to cross over a river? Forget the bridge and use the JS Ferry. It runs every 30 minutes. Great views of the beaches and other boats. You can get out of your car and walk around. Must do for a...More

Check your times to cross the James River area. The ferry is small but helps out on connecting you from the south to the north. It is a quaint ferry and only holds a minimal amount of cars, but is worth the wait or the...More

This ferry operates 24/7, every half hour, providing a nice cruise across the James River. If you're heading south, stop in the Surry, VA area for some sightseeing, and if you are headed north, then you have Jamestown, and Williamsburg ahead. Either way, it's fun,...More

Great free ride is exciting for kids. Can walk about on boat once it is moving, including visiting a small enclosed upper deck. Nice experience with views of Jamestown.

Worth the free trip on the ferry. Listen to the country song while doing so. In surry the town on the other side, there are a few places to see, a plantation and museum, a ham store and castle. It was a fun little ride....More

Took this ferry to Williamsburg, and then when we were leaving. Wait was short and ride was smooth and saved at lease 30 - 45 minutes than driving interstate via Richmond. If you have a choice - take the ferry!
