Great views of the historic Roanoke area and it is an easy walk. Parking is at a premium but was easy to find.

Norfolk Southern are currently rebuilding Roanoke station on the site of the Railwalk so it no longer exists as it is in the middle of a building site.

Excellent way to get a few steps in while admiring the historical markers and the very cool rehabbed buildings along the tracks.

Currently the Railwalk is dismantled and exhibits are housed at the VA Transportation Museum. The concrete and brick walk is being removed to make way for the new Amtrak platform. So at least until late 2017 don't expect to find these historic train exhibits where...More

We enjoyed the photos, facts and artifacts of the N&W Railway as it brought coal from the mines to the eastern US. Numerous steam engine driver wheels on axles support the panels of photos and text. Other railroad signals and even a flatcar are encountered...More

Easy half mile walk along paved route with artifacts of railroad history scattered along the way. Busy rail lines just over the fence means that your walk will most likely be accompanied by a long freight train going thru. Starts right downtown so it would...More

The railway was very easy, pretty flat along the river. You can walk as much or as little as you wish, so whether you have an hour or more or just a few minutes you can get out and walk.

There is really nothing to see along this area except for railroad tracks. A few historical buildings, one being a coffee shop/restaurant and the other is not finished (been unfinished for years). There are too many homeless people along this area so, I wouldn't recommend...More

Loved the walk, but would not do it at night (conservative about where I walk at night) because its rather lonely down near the end where the museum is.

I have taken this walk several times with grandchildren. They enjoy ringing the bells, working the several rail features along the walkway and several times watched the trains go by. I recommend it for children and adults.
