Welcoming staff took pride in town history and individual artifacts, including an expansive model train layout of the town. Displays also include two fire trucks from the town's early fire departments, photos of workers in local industries, signage from local stores. Small overall--but impressively well done and attractive for a varied town history collection. Gifts available for purchase include a museum catalogue. If visiting with small kids, know there's a train table for play and a playground across the street.

Compared to other transportation museums, this pales in comparison, but it is a great museum to see. The model train display is great. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

I am a hometown boy and have volunteered at the "Ratcliffe" as we locals call it. The museum has something for everyone who enjoys both history and railroads. The Brockmeyer model train display is a must see exhibition. The late Dr. Brockmeyer spent decades building an exact model of the Town of Pulaski from the 1930's. The detail is incredible and it is something for all ages. The museum also offers exhibits showing the 100+ year history of a small rural town that was founded on railroad, timber, and mining. If you grew up in rural America, you will be able to relate to what our volunteers have loving assembled to remember those 100+ years. If you come by, plan to visit the other local attractions such as the New River Trail (biking and hiking), the Wilderness Road Museum in historic Newbern, Va; just 15 minutes away. New hotel has just opened in June within one block of the "Ratcliffe"., Within two blocks you should go by the Fine Arts Center and check the schedule for live performances at the renovated Pulaski Theatre. Come on by and say hello.

Train exhibit is fantastic. Kids of all ages will enjoy. The other exhibits won't be as interesting to children. They do have a large scale model train engineer's cab that they can play on.

There are several great exhibits and some are in rotation (so if you haven’t been in a while-return).
Besides transportation there is a lot to learn about a small southwestern Virginia and historically industrial economy.

This is a small museum with lots of local history and an incredible 1950s electric train exhibit - with handmade models of most of the Pulaski downtown buildings. Also beautifully restored antique and classic cars and pieces of Pulaski history. This town was once a manufacturing center with a bustling middle class - and the exhibits artfully depict elements of its past. Share the memories and lose yourself for at least an hour - and hopefully you will get to meet one of the dedicated volunteers.

The Ratcliffe in Pulaski has a wonderful history of Pulaski, VA; as well as an amazing railroad display, antique cars, and even a 100 year old fire truck. It’s easy to walk through & stay as long as you like, or just do a quick walk around. Great for any age.

We fell in love with this Museum in Jan 2017, so much so that we now volunteer there! It has great memories for older locals & history buffs, amazing train replicas for kids & adults alike, antique fire engines & cars, and wonderful memorabilia.

Check out the huge model train exhibit that details Pulaski Virginia in the nineteen fifties and has photos and objects from various eras that document the railroad bringing progress to Martin's Tank that became Pulaski.
