What a find this camp spot was! We left our booking to the last minute and couldn't book Cape Otway, so Johanna Beach we booked. We were not disappointed, lush green grass, easy to get into our site with our caravan (9m in length) and quick walk to the beach. We didn't use the facilities as there was no need too. The beach was great, rock pools to explore and amazing sunset.

An excellent camping experience at the Johanna Beach main camp ground (book via Parks Victoria). With just over 20 sites, it wasn’t overcrowded at Easter and had plenty of room. Parks Victoria maintenance was impressive with the drop toilet faculties cleaned and restocked regularly over the busy week leading to Easter. Camp is an excellent spot as it’s quite well sheltered from the wind but you can hear the waves and surf from the whole camp site. The beach was absolutely stunning however very rough and not suitable for swimming/water play.
Highly recommend as a quiet getaway spot for tents, vans or caravans (we saw it all!).
A well maintained spot - however no fires allowed so be prepared to keep warm!

Every few years the Bells Beach Easter Classic (surf comp) is moved to Johanna
because a decent, competitive swell has failed to eventuate at Bells.
Curious to see “plan B” I was suitably impressed to observe the powerful waves found at Johanna.
I didn’t surf but enjoyed the beauty of walking this rugged, isolated beach.
Amazing happy cattle in green pastures add to the scene while driving down to the car park.

This beach lookout is another one along the Great Ocean Road... each lookout will hold a spectacular view for you. There is no such thing as ordinary on this road. We pulled over here and went for a walk to the lookout on a cool Winter's day and we were greeted with some beautiful views.

But even before you make your way to the lookout or beach, if you turn around in the carpark... there are stunning views overlooking the farmland. So this stop along the road is doubly worth stopping.

You can take a walk to the beach from here... and this is a beach that allows dogs on leashes

A little off the beaten track, this beach is worth leaving the Great Ocean Road for. It even has decent toilets! Great views from the observation area across the beach and water. A quiet retreat from the masses!

This is a great spot to camp. Right close to the beach. The campsite is dog friendly (keep dog on lead). You need to bring your own water and take your rubbish home with you. There is a toilet there. Sites are numbered clearly. Definitely recommend camping here.

Magic landscape with mesmerising views, I could have stayed forever. Rolling greens on one side of the cottage and a short stroll to your private picnic table offering 180 degree views of Johanna surf beach. The weather was changeable but this didn't interfere with our holiday. Bright sunshine with rainbows...

One of best beaches on the world famous Great Ocean Road (if you want to walk it!). Easily accessible by car, with camping ground and car park

A beautiful and wild beach that allows camping. It should, and could be an incredible destination.

Alas, like so many national parks and camping spots it is regularly spoiled by Bluetooth speakers yielded by obnoxious 20 somethings. The peace and tranquility that are supposed to relax the body and mind selfishly and regularly ripped away by the few. When will Parks Victoria at least try to stop this growing menace? A sign or two maybe?

Disappointed by what should have been a fantastic trip.

What a find! This wasn’t a deliberate stop on our Great Ocean Roadtrip, but it was definitely one of my favourites! The waves are huge so it’s absolutely not somewhere I would go swimming, but they have these amazing rock pools which are great for exploring, and it’s just seriously beautiful. I saw that you can stay here too - if I ever do this road trip again with a lot more time than 3 days, Johanna Beach is somewhere I’d love to spend more time.
